One more thing about the people making excuses under the claim that it's designed to be "fun" for a child.

The issues here aren't that it doesn't have a super complicated transformation. We've had Prime's that weren't super complicated and they were reasonably accurate and fun.

They didn't even *try* to make this thing accurate or cool looking, and the combined mode looks hollow and like an afterthought. If they would have made a simpler transformation for the sake of a great combined mode design, sure, but that's not even remotely the case.

 

He's looks good except for the Popeye arms. I really hope they are mistransformed, because they are way out of proportion.

 

I just noticed something...the Optimus' in those 2 modes don't match up at all!

The wheels on the hips, the arms, the colours and patterns etc on the legs, even the angles a bit on the chests don't match up

I think these might be 2 separate figures, maybe the "Angel Prime" is his smaller incarnation, like an RPM of some sort or something

 

I will get it, and probably repro labels if they hook it up, but this thing probably will never see bot mode in my display. Much like Devs in the 2nd movie, and UBB in both movies, this thing is looking more like a novelty piece than a feat of engineering. I have to say that other than the half truck on the forearms, the bot mode itself doesnt look terrible, though it can't hold a candle to ROTF Prime as far as the stand alone Movie Prime.

 

This sucks.

Guess we'll have to wait until there is a CGI reveal because this toy, without seeing the CGI, blows goat nuts. It's awful. I hate..... No, LOATHE the forearms. Yuck. Just, Yuck. That alone ruins almost the entire thing.

As for the trailer? Whatever. It sucks. I want to see the CGI model so that Radicons can begin planning for a better, scratch built trailer that attaches to ROTF leader Prime in a more appealing, practical way.

And what the heck is hanging behind Prime's rear wheels in vehicle mode?? It's under the trailer.

OH, and it seems that the robo-six pack theme is carrying over between the voyager and this. Seems that CGI Prime will have a bit of modification in this area as well. Megs has it too.

This.... sucks.

 

The more I look at it the more I start to actually like it. Oh it's ugly, no doubt about that, but it's that weird sort of ugly that's endearing and almost charming. Like the elephant man.

How long did it take for Devastator to sell for $25? Ages (and actually, never in this country). You're in for a long, long wait given this is OPTIMUS PRIME.

 

They're the same figure, look closer. The "armor" hides a lot of the other robot pieces, and the scale might be throwing you off. Definitely the same figure.

 

I'm not in love with this version, but I don't hate it. Guess if nobody's buying this one, I'll be able to find him on the shelves. Yep, I'm buying him  

 

Sorry, my mood setting was set to "smart-ass" when I read your post.   You do have a point, though. That's why I love the hell out of [a lot] of the Movie toys is because they have some complexity to them. A lot of people I know liken them to a Rubik's Cube (even though a Rubik's Cube is a beast of a challenge in its own right).

What the hell is that? That's what we've all been waiting for? Man, they should rename the toy line "Transformers: Let Down of the Year" instead.

Seriously. Guy looks like the toothfairy! I'll stick with my RotF Prime, thanks very much. Or, since I'll be saving so much money not buying DotM stuff, maybe I'll finally spring for the cost of shipping in Buster Prime.

 

I'd say wait for an actual in hand toy review of this figure. I'm noticing a lot of people here on the board jumping the gun on this toy. I can't judge and say I hate it when I have'nt seen actual in hand images of the figure. For now I don't have an answer, but for all that were anticipating a trailer, well here you go.... We got it.. now shut it...

This thing continues to be hideous the more I look at it, but it's got a trailer with it and that makes me happy. Id like to get it at a clearanced price and just decorate it with Mech Tech weapons.
