This guy's such a Classics Space Case figure. He's got more in common with Classics/Generations than Bayformers. And he's a magnificent update to the original. Why was he on DOTM packaging?

Ah well, "Classics" Space Case is amazing. Pic related.

I'm thinking he looks more like something from Lego's Bionicle's line.....

I think he looks awesome, but I don't think he looks very Classics-y or very Space Case-y, to be honest.

The legs are really movie-verse, and the head just isn't Cyberjet-y at all.

... still really really want one, though.

Must be the alt mode but I tend to think of these guys as the missing members of Cyclonus' Armada

Personally I'm of the opinion they actually went with X-Gunner's deco, but gave him mold-brother Space-Case's name for marketability.

    X-Gunner - Transformers Wiki

Or else they just made up deco from whole cloth, and went name-slappy. I like the mold, and he's paired with my ACTUAL Space-Case in my G2 display, but it's fair from a perfect update.

    GREAT toy though!

Having seen Bionicles up close, in now way does he look like one. I can see the argument with movie base toys who have a heavily layered look like Bionicles do. But not these off-screen/crossover style TF's.

I think in this case, it was more about the colors and head, which I can totally see.

I tend to agree. No bug limbs or monster head = classics.

I see Terradive fitting into the G1-stylings of the '86 movie and season three, what with his goatee and all. I have him with my '86 movie bots, and 2 space cases as generic clones/soldiers that are his henchmen. I have lockdown there too, think of them all as boba fett-type bounty hunuters/scavengers. That also explains Space Case's "crazy" cause his mind is cloned and the two of them can't ever agree on anything (and he talks like Golum, but with 2 minds in 2 bodies, instead of 2 in 1).

Well, I beg to differ. Space case does resemble Bionicles in some ways (maybe even hero factory) when I look at him, but I will concede that he's not a spitting image of a Bionicle.
