Here is a custom repaint I made of DOTM Soundwave. It is pretty much just a simple silver metallic paint job over that dull grey color with some black in certain spots. I keep noticing in the pictures that some parts look unpainted but he looks a lot better in person.
Sweet dude, is this your first? I wish Soundwave was silver to begin with. Looks like i gotta crack out my silver spray paint on that HA Soundwave. Such a shame the figures are cancelled... The prices on ebay are ridiculous! I must have the HA figure. Its awesome what a simple paint up can do to a figure don't you think? Great work Barricade
I actually have done a bit of minor work with Sideways and Breakaway. But Breakaway really never got finished. I am thinking that--since the success with Soundwave, I might try and finish him off. And yes, amazing what a simple paint job will do. Yeah he came from Taiwan. For about $35.99. Which isn't too bad.
Oooh a Sideways and Breakaway eh? Sweet. Theres some awesome reprolabels for Sideways out there if you haven't got them already. I got some on mine, it makes him shine so much better. They are fantastic.
Nice job! I was really pleased with how DotM Sideswipe looked after painting him silver. For some reason Soundwave's grey doesn't bother me as badly as Sideswipe's. Maybe it's because I had the earlier, shiny Sideswipes to compare to. But perhaps I'll do something similar as what you did to mine...
I don't have DOTM Sideswipe. But seeing how well Soundwave turned out, I am strongly considering getting Sideswipe and giving him a similar treatment as Soundwave got. I know. I've really got to get around into getting them. I think the sets for Sideways and Top Spin were the ones jumping out at me the most. Once I get Que and Leadfoot, I will probably turn my attention toward them.
ooh! awesome! I know that silver can be kinda messy to work with and pretty easy to be sloppy with but, you pulled this off very nicely.
Not bad, but i'm gonna be the voice of descent here, and ask what paint you used, and if you thinned it properly? With any quality silver paint, it should be possible to get something much more reflective
Nice job. I'm too afraid to try and repaint figures, so once my DOTM Deluxe Soundwave arrives, I'm just going to leave him be. But mad props to you on your repaint!
