You know, I just had a conversation about Transformers prices with a couple buddies who are older than me (since I really didn't have the concept of money/price when I first got into the hobby in the mid/late 80's) and it didn't really sound like the toys were subject to inflation - meaning that a deluxe-sized toy then was very comparable in price to a deluxe toy now. I know it hasn't been a REALLY long time since the G1 days (at least it doesn't feel long for me :lol ) but I'm sure $10 then was a lot more money than $10 is now.

Thirded. The whole point of buying a Transformer is the excitement of turning it from vehicle (or animal or...) and discovering the robot mode for the first time! That's the exciting part! Or the disappointing part, if it doesn't match the box art (yes, I've been collecting since G1). The point is you buy it for the potential, the unknown, and I always have done, even since being a child. So if they think that packaging them as robots makes them more attractive to children, then they're not giving children much credit...

They didn't package them in vehicle mode in the US because Hasbro didn't want everone here to see how bad you were being ripped off until you transformed them. They figured you would not notice the scout size figure for the deluxe size price in vehicle mode.

Seriously, I own a DOTM Voyager Megatron, Sentinel Prime, and Shockwave and all three look pathetically small compared to all other voyagers from other lines. Hell, the cab of my G2 RTS Optimus is larger than voyager Megatron's.

BTW, anyone looking for a HA Leadfoot can find them clogging the shelves at Target now. And, I think that is where they will stay. Leadfoot is the same size as a CHUG deluxe, and its comes with a small robot bulldog, smaller than Legends class. Included is a small driver for the car. Overall, you are getting a deluxe size figure, an irrelevant driver for the car, and the dog. This is straight up highway robbery for $30 and at this price you can guarantee there will be plenty left over for clearance.

Any Korean members interested in buying a bunch of this stuff for me in the USA? ^___^

I'm serious, willing to compensate fully.

not sure what Philippines you've been to but they do have TRU there...sh*t's expensive but I've shopped at TRU there. Toy Kingdom is probably their biggest toy retailer and is in most of their SM Malls.

ha! well color me stupid :redface2:

i was given the impression from the few people i know and talk to regularly that they didnt (one even said they didnt but he must have meant his area...i dont know!). everyone seems to buy from TK with no mention that tru is even around.

maybe the price of things there is why they all act like it doesn't exists :lol

I see wut u did thar. :lol
Honestly, I'm indifferent about these. Just seems like another tie-in to cash in on the movie, like the kites and bicycles and stuff.

Lemme tell you something: the robot mode packaging made finding a Crankcase with all his fingers hella easy :p

Hi there, yeah, there are lots of TRU branches here in the Philippines, but I guess Toy Kingdom is more popular because it was here first. Anyway, about prices, TRU and TK have the same pricing scheme, TF products come from one distributor, Playkit. :)

LoL, that's awesome. I work in Mokpo, South Korea and I didn't even know robot-mode packaging was unusual until I really thought about it.

It'd be at least 2 years since I was in a North American store TF shopping - I just figured all the new figures worldwide were packaged like this.

For the most part, the package is all in English - just some safety warning stuff in Korean.
