I think that overall we all know this is the same figure we've gotten before with Mechtech Voyager Ironhide but the new deco is a much welcome g1-ish change. The overall main color's are orange-ish red and black with silver accents and 'true' orange apps to round him out. The paint apps are good overall and do not feel or look cheap. Anyway what ever color of red most of the figure is really works well and he looks great next to Leader SP giving him a revenge beatdown b/c he is so much brighter and clean looking. The chest locking feature seems flawed but if you tuck his torso piece up it seems to lock just fine (I have no idea if that is the 'official' way as the instructions are crapola). The head does not feature a battle scar as some had hoped after seeing the one in a case at a con. At the end of the day this is by far my favorite voyager Ironhide b/c something about it just pops wonderfully next to some other drab and darker toned DOTM figures but still overall appears tough. On a personal note my CF Ironhide seemed stronger (well built) compared with most DOTM toys as of late. Also this is my official pick for alternate universe movie Ironhide! Overall I give CF Ironhide a 7.5 out of 10. Final Thought: It's nothing truly new or grounding breaking so there is not a ton I can say that hasn't already been covered in another review but just like Cyberfire BB is a welcome redeco worthy of a purchase.
I had high hopes for this one, but I agree. There actually IS such a thing as bad head. I dislike the DOTM voyagers arms SO much...I just cant justify getting into this one unless there some crazy sales or something. STILL hatin on that dumbass gun... Thanks for the pics....I was just raz'in ya earlier Dave
Keep in mind that I wanted a black head for him as well and maybe two new mechtech cannons since he is 'Cannon Force' but once I got to meet him in person it was love at first sight. I hear your complaints though, the arms are f&%key and the chest snapping into place can be very wonky if not done right. Personally I like his 'new' crazy wonky gun as well. On a side note photo number seven shows off his head pretty well.
Hm, maybe I would get him just for some parts-swapping? I like his darker colored limbs and black wheels. Those would make the original DOTM Voyager even more accurate than it already is.
I think Ironhide would look great using laserbeak's mechtech on his arms instead of the humongocannon.
Like the deco, hate the reuse of the plunger cannon. Come on Hasbro. Might look good armed with Topspin's guns.
I have no experience with this mold until picking up the deco. The only thing I can add is that if you can get over the mold's trailer bed and don't mind the arms, I think one can get used to the chest. It's a wicked figure to pose, given those limitations. It's not mind blowing but since this is a Transformer, he is fun to transform.
I must have the only Ironhide whose chest locks in perfectly. I caved in and got the black one instead of waiting for this, though. I have to say, I quite like him. Shoulder articulation doesn't bother me (or the lack of it, rather). And as you say, you can get some killer poses out of him.

Good paint apps could use more black (especially on the head), but I can't stand the arms and chest, pass.
