**EDIT to clarify intent of post** I did not post this thread to let people know leaders are on sale so they can run out and buy them on the cheap. Obviously, that is not the case. There is a difference between "clearance" and "sale". Usually "sales" accompany "clearance" so people think they are one and the same. The difference is that a sale is when the price is marked down. Clearance is when an item is being phased out and no more new product will be ordered. Clearance items are usually put on sale to help move them on out. Wal-Mart is notorious for clearancing out product, but not putting it on sale. This is when you see the red tag, but it's still full price. The reason for this post: To inform you that Wal-Mart has put Leaders on clearance ( but not on sale ). Not so you can "buy them cheap", but so you'll know they aren't gonna order any more. This either means Hasbro is NOT making a leader Megatron, or that if they do it won't be available at Wal-Mart because they aren't ordering any more leaders since they are on clearance. Comments stating "that's not clearance" because the price is not low only show that you do not understand the difference between "clearance" and "on sale". What's important is the red tag, indicating Wal-Mart's intent to stop selling said item once the stock runs out. THAT is the intended "news" in this post. Not the price.



Not your typical "rollback" as its red sticker and in the clearance aisle. Not much of a markdown, but marked down none the less.

That's the regular price where I am, BUT what it means (the red price sticker) is that they are now marked as "non-replenishable" for them (possibly some walmarts and not others) so the toy dept manager can mark them down if they choose to.

 

Too bad it isnt ironhide  

 

$2 =/= clearance, I don't care what the sticker says.

 

Meh. I bought an ironhide....your not missing much. Actually mine couldn't stand under his own weight so I was "Lucky" and just took him back.

Clearance is not defined by price. It's derived from the word "clear" as in "clearing out stock". Regardless of the price, it is on "clearance", which means they won't be ordering any more. At least not at this store. Could be a sign of it happening everywhere. Which is bad news for those of us hoping for a leader Megatron.

 

One of the walmarts here had the exclusive prime voyager and legend packs with the red shelf sticker. Still at regular price.

 

So they were on clearance, but not on sale. They aren't ordering any more of those items and will just sell what they have until gone. Even at regular price.

I think the fact sales usually accompany clearances has caused confusion. People think it's not on clearance if the price isn't marked down.

 

Most likely, they have them on clearance because they reduced the leader class shelf space, to make room for Ultimate Prime.

 

Individual Wal-marts are in control over their clearance markdowns so don't go spending $5 in gas to save $2 on Leader Bumblebee.  

 

  $2 isn't hardly enough to move a wall of Bumblebees.

 

Thats regular price here.....but that mean theyre marking them down....might get one at 25$ Ldr Sentinel that is....

 

Those exclusives were great deals at regular price. If they do get marked down then some people are going to get fantastic deals.

 

Ha, that's more like K-Mart's definition of clearance.

 

my walmart is doing the same thing in ct and theyre all leader bb's so i guess that answers the question of whether these things were shelfwarmers.

 

This. They will probably clear out at Christmas, though.

 

I noticed the ultimate prime and a bunch of cyberverse 2 packs in the clearance section yesterday. They weren't stickered, so I don't know for how much, if anything. The display piece of the ultimate prime was in the regular section.
