I dunno, I'm morbid. Ironhide was my favorite character in the movie series, so why I was so possessed to do this, I can't say. I will say that the head shown in these pics is not his original, but a resin cast I made of the ROTF Nest Ironhide head. I then let it sit in a thing of acetone on multiple occasions (it would crackle the resin in places, but not really melt it away) and after some work on it, I finally got it to look like I wanted. Painted it in black with some steel highlights, then sprayed it in Rustoleom rustic brown. The body got the soldering pen treatment. Admittedly, there's a lot more of him left in these shots than there probably was in the movie (tries not to cry) but this looks more effective. Hope--in some odd, twisted way--you enjoyed.
Alas poor Ironhide, losing his head yet again. But great job on the rust effects, it really captures the "oh slag" moment onscreen. Though I thought there was suppose to be a gaping hole blasted through his torso, but still it's a nice if morbid custom.
Definitely bringing him to the next meet up Thanks guys! As for the torso shot, I knew if I made a hole too far down I'd lose his chest piece. So I went as low as I felt comfortable going on that part, and ended up leaving a lot behind to keep the frame sturdy. Still like how it turned out.
That's perfectly understandable. As long as you liked how it turned out, who am I to complain about it. Though I now have the sudden urge to do the same to my junker Ironhide.
"such heroic nonsense" that looks slick, though i agree with you, compared to the movie, too much ironhide still left . the effects you did for the cosmic rust turned out pretty realistic too!!
how fitting..IRONhide RUSTing away...LOL!! Rust In Peace..LOL!!! i was actually waiting for someone to do this..best custom for me this month!!
That is wicked cool. I plan to do this to a junker Ironhide... that'll be what's on the shelf. (An in-half jazz is already lying at Megatrons feet on my decepticon shelf... so why should this be any different?
Hahah! Wow thats funny. Pretty well done too. Minor suggestion would be to define his face more, detail it with his regular colors and have his eyes showing as he disolves. Its really hard to make his face out, currently, and isnt evoking an emotional response, my 3ยข
This is both brilliant and yet horribly depressing at the same time. No offence ment. You've captured the moment. Some might argue a little too well.
