I think everyone who picked up a DOTM Deluxe Sideswipe wanted to add some paint to it. The head crest and backpack reminded me of Hot Rod/Rodimus so I experimented with that idea. The hood emblem is from the reprolabels set for Classics Tracks. Paints were Testors Model Master Acryls (Insignia Red primarily, some Steel and Gold, some Insignia Gold, and a lightened up International Orange for some of the chest parts).
Realy nice smooth painting , almost looks like the body work is moulded in red plastic Shame that the spoiler doesn't come behind his head like big wings, but that is the transformations fault and not yours obviously
Thanks for the feedback guys. I think the figure is a really nice mold and it is fun to play with. It is missing paint apps and the front hood piece which becomes part of the backpack likes to fall off. Meggamus, I just tried it out and if the hood part on the backpack is removed (again, its a very easy thing to do) then the spoiler can actually come up behind his head actually. That actually looks neat other than the spoiler looks like it is curving down behind his head. I guess modifying the spoiler might not be too difficult... crap... I was curious what this mold would look like in Shattered Glass Rodimus colors and I think I just got the inspiration to try it out for a future project. Anyway. I had intended the part of the backpack that swoops upwards to visually act in place of where the spoiler traditionally sits on Hot Rod/Rodimus' back in more traditional designs. I went with gold there thinking it could look a little Henkei-ish and I thought it fit dry brushing better than yellow would.
