I wanted to really like this toy, but the alt modes are horrible. The bright red and robot mode may still convince me to buy it...but I haven't seen anything outside of wave 1 at local retail. I don't love it enough to buy online.

I can still use it as a shield for Optimus right? Thats what I was wanting this figure for anyways. Does it work as a shield?

Man what a POS in everything but bot mode, which is pretty cool-looking. I like though how the reviewer spent a few minutes just complaining about how stupid the vehicle mode is and it still got an 8/10. Also, 10/10 means that it is basically perfect, which I think might be too high a rating, unless the reviewer feels that it is honestly perfect in every way.

Aside from those little things, thanks for the review! I won't be getting this fanbot.

As with all TF purchases, I'll buy it for the robot mode.

Well that sir is some sweet @$$ alt modes. Almost makes me Wang a movie prime to do that set up, any pictures of the laserbeak modes ? The hover concept makes more sense now, and the alt mode that looks like laserbeak looks nice !!!

Yeah, I thought he was VERY creative to use Reverb that way. It makes much more sense. You can check laserbeak thread for laser combo

I picked him up, and like many, hated the asymetrical hover mode. After some fiddling, I managed to find a few modes I liked. He isn't that bad, but isn't spectacular either. He does have his faults yet he is still pretty cool.

As for the hover-bike mode, I'm putting it as something we'd see in a post TF3 era. It would easily be something built from components from downed Decepticons and their ships for humans to use personally, or militarily.

The bot mode on this guy is great enough that the other mode's faults don't bother me a bit. Love the blade on the left arm. and the fan made jet pack mode is pretty awesome. Another winner for this line.

Picked him up yesterday. An awesome figure that's reminiscent of the G2 Laser Cycles. In fact, the whole figure feels far more like a Classics toy than the other ones in the line. He has normal hands, a symmetrical body, lots of smooth surfaces and a fleshy face like most of the G1 bots. He'd fit right in with most of the Cybertron scouts. The blade on the left arm is a bit useless, though.

I just picked him up and I like him. These pics make me like him even more! A lot of fun stuff to try out! I have Roadbuster using his shield mode now. He needs both hands to support him, though...

I like him a lot, but then, I'm also pretty okay with weird alt modes. All the hinges and swivels give him a lot of playability, just like Tailpipe/Pinpointer. Flip up the fans for a robot hover mode, drop the head and raise the headlight for a Battlemech-style robot, at least three different hoverbike modes...the only downside is that a human pilot can't wear him as battle armor.

I like him too, but the as-designed alt mode, the assymetrical hover bike, just would not work IRL. I realize, yes, these are toys, but that huge fan on one side would not lift this thing vertically, it would flip it over like a pancake at a Boy Scout breakfast fund-raiser.

    Above fan mode is better.

EDIT- at the risk of self-promotion, I just came up with something I like more:

But that's the beauty of these things, you can transform them in slightly different ways.
