Here in Denver, today's high is forecast at -3. All area schools are shut down, which means I have to stay home with my 6-year-old and play Wii, Legos and Transformers.

Down here in the Florida panhandle, it has been cloudy, wet and foggy. Temps have been in the 60's during the day and lows in the 50's at night.

But it is suppose to rain for the next couple of days and temps will be in the 50's during the day and 30's at night starting Thursday.

Wind chill: -24 degrees here in Nebraska. F that.

Basically every school and college is closed here in Northeastern Nebraska, but does my college close, no. Theres not much snow, but that wind is just terrible, 30 MPH wind is just to much for me. Dexter/Walking Dead marathon sounds perfect today.

In the Black Forest just east of Colorado Springs Air Force Academy, it is -16 with windchills bringing it down to -36 freaking freeze your ass off degrees! Not even the dog wants to go outside and make yellow snow.
They say this is the coldest it's been in decades!
-36 freaking freeze your ass off degrees outside! It must feel like space out there!

"It's freaking freezing in here Ms Beaglsworth!"
    "Meeeeeooowwww!"

-31.6 without a windchill yesterday. Broadcaster on a radiostation I listen to joked about how Apolcalypse is around the corner. Mind you, that temperatures in celsius. -28.6 in Farehenheit.

Well work was preemptively snowed out today, and likely totally snowed out tomorrow. Talking about 1 inch of freezing rain followed by 8-12 inches of snow.

    Effing Eh.

    Ice can ram it.

Woke up this morning to send a check out for a fellow member, and as I walked outside, the entire driveway (and the neighborhood) was covered with ice. It's times like this I'm glad my house is on a hill of sorts, since I walked down the hill (since the snow was soft enough to break through with my feet and not slip) and get to the mailbox. Wouldn't you know it, the damn thing was frozen shut. So I had to slowly, and carefully, walk back up the hill, onto the front porch, and into the house to get something to take care of the ice freezing up the mailbox. Dad was there, said that windshield de-icer spray would work. So I took his advice. Went all the way back down to the mailbox, and sprayed the de-icer.

    Didn't work.

    BULLSHIT.

So I decided to do the only thing that could actually get rid of the ice. Slowly went back up the hill, onto the front porch, into the house, put the de-icer spray back on the table near my father's work area, went into the garage, and got a wrench. Then I went back outside and proceeded to tell mother nature to eff off by breaking the ice with the wrench.

And it worked. :)  Got the check (and some other envelope my dad wanted me to put in there) into the mailbox, and forcefully put the little red flag up. Then I went back inside and had my coffee. Ain't it amazing how sometimes you can solve a problem by resorting to your primal instincts? :p

Screw ice. Screw snow. Screw winter.

I would've used a lighter or something similar and melt the ice off.
At least we don't have a lot of snow to deal with. The roads are pretty drivable. Our only issue is the blowing winds and the damn cold!

The weather here in Eastern Illinois just got MAD. It's been hitting full force with no sign of stopping, though I must admit walking through campus in that weather was pretty exhilarating!

you guys are all a bunch of wussies. -10C isn't cold. but -20C is really cold. if you guys can't handle that, don't come up to canada in Febuary/late January. because that's when we hit -40C with a bit of windchill.

also as a canadian, your hate for ice grows once you've seen an ice storm that screwed us over in 1998 (no power for 2 weeks! ;__; ) and put over 5 inches of ice everywhere.

but HOLY MOLEY THIS STORM CLOUD IS MASSIVE 8C

Luckily, so far anyway, just getting some rain, only got in the mid 50's for the high tho..not the 64* promised, but I'll still take it :D

Talked to a couple of friends in the midwest today..they say they're worried about the power outages, some neighborhoods already have lost power..Yikes! :(
