Blame GSI Commerce. Why? Well it turns out TRU sub-contracts out their online orders to this company who processes, packages, and ships orders for hundreds of online retailers. I was watching an episode of the show Undercover Boss and the episode followed the CEO of GSI Commerce and they were explaining what they did, and it got me wondering what companies used their services. So I turned to my old friend Wikipedia and found out that among many others TRU are one of their clients along with Mattel, Dick's Sporting Goods, HP, and tons of others. I just figured I'd share this info since I hear a lot of people complain about packages they've received from TRU and the horrible packaging methods. If this is old news please let me know, nicely if possible . Source: GSI Commerce - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
and TRU thought back in the day that Amazon was doing a shitty job with their products / when amazon ran the online store for TRU...they then decide to subcontact to another hack company.
Wrong. TRU left Amazon due to a breach of contract. TRU signed a deal with Amazon being the exclusive toy dealer on Amazon. Amazon let eToys.com to sell toys on their site breaking the TRU contract. TRU sued Amazon and opened their own site. The ironic thing is that eToys went bankrupt in a few years and TRU bought them out.
Couldn't be worse than HTS...those soft shipping boxes sucks, and I actually had to pay for shipping cost.
until my Blaster arrived, my HTS packages came in excellent shape. but blaster was stuffed in an oversized box, with a ball of paper and it bounced to hell and back en route to my door. TRU has shipped me items that i thought they could have done better with the packaging. now that i know who's doing what, it makes sense. without TRU hovering over them to guarantee high standards, shipping has become a crap shoot. and to think, i used to believe that eBay sellers were the worst packers of all. They have honestly proven to be reliable.
