So I went to Subway today. I'm not too familiar with their Subway card. I know you rack up points for freebies. However, do they link that to your checking/debit card for future purchases as well? I think I may have been overcharged. Went into the store, walked up to the Subway counter. Got my sandwich and the guy asked for my Subway card. Receipt printed out. It states "Take-out total 5.45, Cash Amt tend 5.45, Change Due 0.00". Then I walk up to the regular store counter for a pack of Marlboros. The guy asks me if I paid for the sandwich so I show him the receipt. They tell me I still have to pay for it. So then I charged the cigs and sandwich to my debit card. But whats the deal with the first receipt? I can't seem to get a straight answer off the internet if they link accounts or anything and you can pay with the Subway card. I feel like I just may have paid over 10 dollars for a 5 dollar sub. Anyone know how this works?

    You got "shanked".

There's a special on right now because in the month of December some participating Subways are giving away subs for $2.00.

I think you need to do some research and get some of your money back.

The Subway card don't know one thing about that.

Hope this helps and hopefully you have your receipt to back up your complaint.

I'm sorry, I can't get over the fact that the big Healthy Eating establishment with the dude who walked to Subway every day for a year and lost so much weight is selling Cigarettes.

Either way it sounds like you got hosed, if you paid at the counter for the Subway and then went to another counter to pay for a pack of Cigs in the same store there is no way you pay again for the Subway.

Considering it clearly says the Amount Due is balance of 0$ it sounds to me like you paid for the sub already. Of course I'm no expert, as I don't own a Subway card, nor do I know the details of its program.

Still can't get over the fact Subway sells Cigarettes, oh sure lose weight with healthy eating and excercise, but kill your lungs anyway so you die of cancer.

Edit: By the way, can't you check your bank statements online to see if Subway charged you twice through the account?

Subway themselves DO NOT sell cigarettes. The shop just happened to be located inside the convenience store, that does sell cigs pretty much as everyone else does.

Well then why the hell are you paying twice? I mean seriously it sounds like the clerk at the convenience store charged you for the Subway sandwhich in order to pocket an extra 5$ for himself out of the till. Unless there is no cash register located at the Subway station, I mean you did get a bill from there I'm assuming there is another cash register there being manned by somebody.

    Definitely got hosed here guy.

The clerk shouted over to the guy working Subway and he agreed it still had to be paid for. He said all I gave him was a Subway card.

If I got hosed and it shows up in my bank statement double on Monday, I will be back, and I will make it right.

Thanks but it does more good than harm right now. I know the risks. I willingly choose to do it. Might quit when I graduate school but for now it helps me get through it all.

Definitely call and talk to the management of the store you purchased food at and make sure to keep the receipts. I'd be raising all sorts of hell.

    Ebay:
we have several Subway stores inside of a convenience store down here.
    BUT...
We have to pay for our subs when they are made, not at the counter of the guy who's keeping track of gas pumps and everything else.

I still think that if you had to go through the trouble of handing over a Subway card, then getting a printed receipt, then you should have paid for the food right there.

    lastly, you said:
so google was too much effort?

not reading the fine print is not a good excuse. it never holds up in court, either.

Fine print? What fine print? They just give you a goddam card saying you get points for every purchase. And Google didn't offer much help. Info seems to be lacking on these cards. I know they offer prepaid where you can add to your balance. However, I haven't found much else. All I know is they better not have conned me into paying twice. Will know tomorrow when the bank statements are updated.

I don't eat at Subway so I really don't know anything about the card but I doubt it is tied to your debit card in any way. From what little info I found on Google you get a point for every dollar you spend and it takes 75 points to get a regular foot-long sub.

Based on that little info my guess is that you give them your card first which applies the points and then you pay or if you have the 75 points needed it should pay for your sub. If you had 75 points and it was a regular foot-long then it should have been free. If not then yes you did have to pay for it but it seems odd to me that you would have to pay at the convenient store counter and not at Subway.

That receipt that you described does make it seem like you payed for it at Subway in some form though. Did you give Subway your debit card also or just the convenient store? Also when you applied for the Subway card did they ask for your debit card number? If they did not ask for your debit card number when you applied for the Subway card then it should in no way be tied to the Subway card.

I don't know if any of that was any help to you but I hope things work out.

There's usually some kind of "literature" attached to rewards/membership cards. It's usually in the form of a pamphlet or card carrier.

I can't see how a reward card could be tied to your debit/credit card unless you signed an authorisation linking the two, or otherwise gave your consent such as online. Did you have to register your card or activate it online? Did they at any point ask for your debit card details, or ask you to check a box agreeing to linking your card?

Most reward system I know of it's just a card that accrues points which can be redeemed for free stuff after a minimum is reached. They aren't payment methods and are generally scanned or stamped in addition to you debit card or cash.

Also, you should know that online forums are not the places to announce that you are purchasing cigarettes. This is the internet, full of Judgy McJudgersons wearing their judging hats, just waiting to judge you and wax lyrical on your poor choices. Next time say you're buying something else.....but not condoms, because then you will lose credibility for insinuating that you have a sex life....the first comment will be "cool story, bro" and it will degenerate from there.
