I didn't cry but I was shocked. I saw the movie with my folks opening weekend at the tender age of 6. The shuttle scene disturbed the heck out of me. Seeing Prowl die like that and Ironhide getting his face blasted by Megs fusion cannon stuck with me for a long time. To this day that's the worst American cartoon slaughter scene of iconic characters I've ever seen.

The Prime/Megs final battle to me is the greatest final battle in a American toon. It felt like I was watching a piece of history. Cullen & Welker did an excellent job.

I don't think I cried as I watch that scene unfold on the big screen. However, I do remember being quite emotional.

No and I didn't for the 86 Movie ether because, it wasn't real.

but, even though it wasn't real in 1986 and after seeing it, it was more in the emotional range of feeling Dissapointed, Sadness and Dislike etc.. .:( :thumbdown

    And Today "or 2010"...
Looking back on it, it is now the slight feeling of disappointment they did that and hope, they don't completely kill of Optimus Prime off again.

all this even-though it is not real. :D :lol

i was kinda shocked when i saw the 86 movie in the cinema, but i didnt cry. Dinobots death gave me a lump in my throat when i first saw it, and i felt kinda sad when ROTF prime died, till i realized it was mid movie and knew someone was coming back.

to date, the only death that has made me cry was Spock in Wrath of Khan.

i honestly find the final battle of prime and megatron to be TRUELY underwhelming, i saw it the first time and i was like "that's it?"

armada's final battle between prime and megatron is way better

only a handful of moments in transformers shocked me, animated blurr getting crushed, and ravage's death in ROTF, because you see, NOBODY MENTIONED IT UNTIL LIKE A FEW DAYS AFTER THE FILM PREMEIRED....i mean everyone was bitching about devastator's balls and nobody mentioned the epic death of ravage, i saw bumblebee rip him in half and my jaw hit the floor

See, that's where I'm at. I was 9 when TFTM dropped and Prime's death was a shock for sure, but the shuttle slaughter was far more disturbing to me (maybe more so because Prowl was my first and favorite TF toy?)... and seeing that fire and smoke roll out of his eyes and mouth was CRAZY! Ironhide's demise was also freaky-deaky at that time too.

Once again, same here. Especially the scene where Optimus walks over to pick up his rifle. The animation for that scene is SO SLOW. Even as a kid, I was kinda like WTF is going on here?? But yeah, as much as I love that film (probably more out of nostalgia now than anything), the final duel between Megs and Optimus is anything but epic IMHO.

So, to answer the OP's initial question, NO I didn't cry during that scene then, and I certainly don't now!

I chose yes, but I don't really do it now. It's more of a getting misty eyed kinda thing but no actual tear. There wasn't an option for that...

And I always get chills when he says "Megatron must be stopped...no matter the cost!" Then transforms and heads into battle with The Touch playing!

    I do get goosebumps though.

I saw the 86 movie in the cinema. I was about 6 or 7 years old.
I was a little upset during the shuttle slaughter but seeing Prime die (for the first time) had me in tears.

This had never been done in any cartoon i'd seen. Killing off the main hero.
Couldnt imagine it happening to Lion O or He-man.

But after seeing him die in every continuity since then, its not the same.

No, I was expecting it in ROTF. In G1 I was more shocked and angry. When Prime died in Armada, Animated etc. it was more amusing as I knew it had to be temporary.

I cried as a child... it was Prime. I would never cry over a fictional character, but I didn't like seeing OP killed in ROTF either, it was upsetting.

Occasionally I wish they would have the balls to make the end of a series be Optimus stalking the remaining Cons for revenge after the rest of the Autobots are killed. Aside from him and Wheeljack, I've never been big on the Autobots, I've always been a Decepticon fan.

i can't see how anybody cried over prime, it was so.....eh?

now when the space battleship yamato went down in final yamato, THAT is sad, not prime dying

i still stand God Ginrai "dying" is more emotional than prime dying

i watched the movie for the first time last year and i already knew he was gonna bite the big one. there was no shock factor to it for me. even if i didn't know i wouldn't have cried anyway. i don't even shed a tear when a family member dies. im just too cold

I cried when I was a kid. I'm still moved by the scene today, though not to tears.
