Sideswipe was black in G2 too


im not too stuck on the geewun color schemes myself. if somebody wants to re-interpret them im all for it. as long as the *character* remains the same, i dont care what color he is

 

This should've been done in 2007.

 

Just because the movie aren't G1, doesn't mean we can't compare them.
But wanting it to look like G1 is too much.

By offering new original designs with every incarnation, the movieverse is sticking to Transformers' style. Something that goes right over the heads of "fans" who proceeded to completely forget about Transformers from 1987 to 2007.

It must just be something about the films that people hate that they only make these kinda threads in the movie forums. You never see a "Why Arcee Blue not Pink?" threads in the Prime forums. Or when it existed, no one commented on Prowl or Jetfire's colour changes in the Animated forums.

Colours and designs change for Transformers in every new Generation. As loads of people have pointed out, if every series followed the color scheme of Generation One, most of the characters would be red and/or white.

 

Happens that way anyways. However its because the thread gets swiss cheesed by people trolling, which results in the mods closing it.

Maybe not hate but when the characters look so different and they reusing names under the guise that this was a G1 core movie ( Brian Goldner of Hasbro said it not me! ) this is what gets people miffed.

If there is any one generation of Transformers a live action movie was going to be about we all know it would be G1. Its the most recognizable and its the most popular.

Basically after 20+ years of waiting for a TF film and all indications it being based on G1 character set we got these films which if you want to be honest only 1 out of the 3 works as a TF film. I give them credit to filnally getting it mostly right in part 3. So if people are pissed about something as small as a color choice try thinking about it for a second.

Something as small as a color choice couldnt even be done as a service to the fans who started it all and kept going for a long time. This is where the movies fail and why they garner so much ill will.

You say color is not a big deal get over it and I say then why not make sideswipe red "if its not a big deal". Its all about perspective.

And I think people are much more forgiving when an untraditional version of a character is actually interesting and well written.
