I've noticed that despite being from different universes TF1 Sentinel acts like a younger DOTM Sentinel and was wondering whether everyone else agrees or not and if so what do all of you think of their similarities?

 

Not really.

TFOne Sentinel was a sleazeball turbo-revving opportunist who took a chance to take power just for his leisure. DOTM Sentinel was a deluded guy who envisions the rejuvenation of his home planet.

The one thing they have in common is the betrayal element.

Maybe a little? There's clearly some inspiration at least visually but One Sentinel seems to be more of an actual character than the one from DOTM, plus Bayverse Sentinel was a 'legitimate' Prime whereas the one in One was not.

In quotes because frankly I'm not sure what makes a genuine Prime vs. a fake one.

They have nothing in common outside of being evil. Sentinel in One is obviously primarily based on Sentinel in Animated, although even they have numerous differences.

Not quite. If anything, TF One Sentinel is a fully realized Animated Sentinel. The only thing that kept Sentinel from going this far in Animated was that, even if the show kept going, the writers kept trying to justify his b.s as if they had stockholm syndrome.

DOTM Sentinel was desperate and broken from the war's devastation. He had some noble beliefs, hence Optimus saying Sentinel was the one who taught him what he knows. However, the moment it comes to restoring Cybertron, he's willing to sacrifice everything and anyone. Including his morality.

 

Not even a little. DOTM Sentinel was a noble warrior who wanted the best for his planet and would probably even lay down his life for it. His evil fault was doing whatever he felt was necessary to accomplish such a goal, which ultimately ended up including the enslavement and plundering of another world. He was also a genius inventor who developed revolutionary technology for his people.

TFO Sentinel on the other hand? Just a sociopathic sleazebag who wanted power and admiration. Dude had a high ranking position serving honorable gods who only wanted the best for their people and he decided that he hated them for that. He was also a coward who colluded with alien enemies that would destroy Cybertron. If he was anything like DOTM Sentinel, he would put everything aside to protect Cybertron, but he didn’t. He’s so beyond evil that he’d put his own selfish desires before the safety of his entire world.

DOTM Sentinel would be enraged if he knew what TFO Sentinel did.

DOTM Sentinel seemed like an asshole who just cares about reviving their home.

Like a shitty bland version of IDW Prowl or Skybound Elita.

One Sentinel is just a cowardly douche that gets exactly what’s coming to him.

You should’ve just spoke for yourself instead of letting some fan made wiki speak for you lol. That page doesn’t say anything legitimate that hasn’t already been stated in this thread and the more opinionated aspects of it can easily be debated. Not trying to say that DOTM Sentinel isn’t evil, but he’s definitely fundamentally different from TFO Sentinel and even preferable by comparison. Just really makes no sense to say TFO Sentinel feels like a young DOTM Sentinel. They would hate each other.

That was kind of implied when I mentioned that he wanted to enslave the world the Autobot’s were protecting. But yeah dude was absolutely an asshole traitor.

 

DOTM Sentinel isn't a bad guy, at least in my opinion. He just went a different, more extreme route to achieve his goal. Goals aside, his morals are more in line with the Autobots I think.

One Sentinel is a whole nother level of evil. I think he'll be well remembered. Not to say the DOTM Sentinel didn't age well, just this version is the best Transformers movie villain we've ever had in my opinion.
