Is it just me or does Trailbreaker not get any love? It seems like the major G1 characters have an Alternator version or at least a main line homage EXCEPT for poor Trailbreaker.

Yes I know Alt Swindle/Rollbar was supposed to be Trailbreaker, heck there’s even wishful thinking for the Alt Optimus remold, but darn it I would to see a modern toy that does Trailbreaker justice.

If there’s some type of trademark issue, can’t they just play around with the name?

Maybe there is an issue with the name.

 

I know that originally CYB Overhaul was to be named "Trailbreaker" and got changed (which would have made the "Trailbreaker"->"Leobreaker" name change make more sense), so there's another point of evidence for trademark issues on the name itself.

 

And there's a rumor that Universe Autobot Ratchet (the RiD X-Brawn redeco) was originally planned to be Trailbreaker (after all, he shows up in the Universe comic together with Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, with the latter two getting new bodies which got released as OTFCC exclusive toys).

  I made a few phone calls and as it turned out, Trailbreaker was really difficult offscreen. He demanded too many cybergroupies, his breath reeked of Energon, and his entourage was obnoxious.

The last straw was when Optimus caught him hitting on Elita-1.

Despite his personal flaws, I still like him and demand a homage, reissue and an Alternator version from Hasbro. THEY WILL COMPLY BECAUSE I'M USING CAPS LOCKS AND HAVE EXCESSIVE EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!!!!!!!! That always seems to work. That and I'm threatening a lawsuit.

Actually, there is a G1 Trailbreaker homage.
Problem was, someone wanted Alt Decepticons, so Sunstreaker became Dead End and Trailbreaker became Swindle.

 

I've always thought Cybertron Red Alert would look good as Trailbreaker.

 

Too bad we'll probably never see that happen. There's already a black repaint of that figure coming out.

 

That's Cannonball, right? Is he molded black? Because, ya know...with a little paint thinner and a little love...

EDIT: I just found the pics of Cannonball on here. With some parts swapping between him and Red Alert, you could make a pretty convincing trailbreaker. You'd have to strip the skeleton paintjob off Cannonball's sides, but that'd be about it.

Going back to the RiD Car Bros Ratchet/Trailbreaker thing..I could go for that. Hell, give me both X-Brawn and Speedbreaker repainted twice into 84-85 'bots ala Sunstreaker and Sideswipe and I'd buy 'em. X-brawn as Trailbreaker and Skids, Speedbreaker as Jazz and...somebody. Hell, by the time you add the original RiD Prowl and Universe 'Red Alert,' you've got half the original 'bot cast.

... and I join you LB in cursing Hasbro for not reissuing him. Takara did back in '01 (or so) but I was hoping for a more mainstream re-release.

 

He probably got caught inside his own forcefield and died of energon depletion. Then Prime told Hound to put up a hologram around him so no one would know. I wish that woulda happened to Warpath "WAM!".
