It's because they haven't been able to film the commercial for the next set yet. Supposedly, it is going to be Davison Season 2.

I was hoping for his third season since I want The Caves of Androzani on BD.

I want a black and white season on blu-ray. Might be waiting a while for that, I suspect.

I'm really curious how they'd do one of those between the animated reconstructions and missing episodes.

I've wondered that myself. I suspect Hartnell's second season would be the first release, because it's only missing episodes 2 and 4 of The Crusade and is otherwise complete, so they could put off the problem. Otherwise I'd guess a mix of animated episodes, reconstructions, or just skipping entire missing stories and noting their absence. I'd be happy with sets that just included the complete stories with orphan episodes included with the seasons they belong to.

I'll be curious to see how it looks. I'm hoping the technology to restore these old episodes has just kept on improving. I remember originally watching Hartnell and Troughton on PBS in the mid-80s when they had old, scratchy prints of highly variable quality. The VHS were a little better and the DVDs a huge improvement. As long as they don't overdo it, I'll be happy. I thought the Aztecs special edition lost some details in the picture by overcranking the noise reduction, so I've kept my original DVD release.

The motion on some of these blu-ray sets looks "choppy" for lack of a better word. I'm wondering if it's just my player. But I watched the Pertwee season on blu-ray, and it was a definite improvement on the DVDs. I should buy a region 2 set and see if it looks better, because I do have a multi-region player.

It's not your player, the slight moments of choppiness is due to the masters originally being PAL. That's why most discs are 1080i and not 1080P.

That was my other guess, that it was a standards conversion issue.

Yeah, pretty much anything not shot in HD will have that issue.

Well fuck, looks like BBC has renewed Doctor Who for two more years with Chibnall in charge.

Welp if the show wasn't dead already they have now buried and pissed on it's corpse. Chibnall will run it into the ground, right now he's making the the time when they canceled it under Colin Baker look like masterpiece of writing in comparison the the crap they have been pushing out.

Someone please yank the BBC's funding so they actually have to earn their viewers money.

Not really surprised. Some time ago I saw a YT video that claimed that Chibnall had a five year plan for the series, including the next anniversary.

Not sure if I'll still be watching by that time.

The last season my GF and I were really asking ourselves if it was worth sticking with the show or if we should just stop watching. We were really watching out of a sense of obligation (me because I've been a fan of the series since the 80's (loving the reruns of the 70's episodes mostly) and my GF because it was one of the first things we did together which coincided with the start of Smith's run), and not because we enjoyed it. We're not even sure we will watch the next series let alone and two more series...a lot has to change for that to happen.

Then why are you posting in here? :lol

Anyway, Amazon just sent me a message saying the Tom Baker S3 set has been pushed back until the 12th. -_- It's not a good day... 24 hours for Doctor Who.
