Called it about Clara not being perma dead, and you people doubted me. Not a brilliant episode, just a good one, but that's not a bad thing. certainly a better finale than half of the RT Davis's finales. Liked that the Diner 11 was in turned out to be a TARDIS, kinda cool. Looking forward to the Christmas special. Oh yeah, anyone else loled a bit at The Matrix super computer that's powered by the souls of dead Time Lords?
Ugh. I was so enjoying Capaldi episode sans Clara. Then that happened. It was a chance to finally get something going! At least the Christmas Special will really be without her. I'm also not pleased with Ashildur having a TARDIS. At all.
Ohh you're right, that one's the Demat weapon. 50 years of history can be a lot to sort though sometimes As for the rest of the episode.. I'm not quite sure why I thought this episode would take a 90 degree turn from the one before and not be about the Doctor trying to save Clara.. in retrospect that was just silly of me. That being said.. I still want the next companion to NOT be the "love interest" type. I still want K-9 back, I still want an Adric like companion, someone who's not a Timelord but still an intellectual match for him. They don't always have to use the heart strings to "keep him in line" it has been done in other ways in the past..
Think that Hell Bent might be my fav episode ever. The entire series wasn't all great, the middle part wasn't too hot at all, but the start and finish. Fantastic. Hope we get to see Clara and Ashildr again! They 50's diner time machine is so retro, it's practically Douglas Adams.
Something tells me that's not a coincidence. The diner at the end of the universe. The nerdist episode review even pointed out an appearance by 3 ST:TNG dressed guys in a painting of a boat earlier in the season
For some reason the fact that it's an Ashildur that is billions of years old bothers me even more. Look how detached she was after a few hundred years. What must she be like at this point?
She was detached because she was forced to slog through time with no one to share that experience with. Now she has a companion who is effectively immortal, and can travel throughout the universe at will.
I actually thought that end-of-the-universe Me was far more well-adjusted than the version we saw in either the 17th or 21st Centuries.
If Spice & Wolf taught me anything, immortality is to not to live forever, it's to outlive everybody else around you and seeing them die one by one. Now that Ashildr got herself a companion that won't die, then she is no longer immortal as she have someone else to live with her forever.
That reminds me, since Meshieldir never used the other healing square, I wonder what it could have done against the quantum shade before all the dying even happened. Heh, maybe it would have ended just the same for Clara either way, not quite dead, not quite alive.
"sumer doesn't last forever" this coming from a game of thrones actor is... priceless sad ending I am really sad aboud the doctor not remembering clara
Spoiler I hate the idea that the Doctor realises somethings wrong, has a ton of clues around him suggesting he's forgotten someone, and just decides to move on with his life. Not being funny like, but I feel like 12 would be livid at the thought of someone stealing his memories, and he'd just keep unravelling the whole thing until he found out it was his decision all along. Unless I missed something.
From here on out. What about the billions of years before that? What is her mental state like now? She may get better, but how did those years affect her?
He basically did piece together what happened, that's how he was able to tell the story. He may not fully remember what happened, but he knows the basics and he knows why he did it.
Just watched day of the doctor and the 6 minute short with the 8th doctor, and I have one question, if they.got the 8th to return for that short, why did they make up the war doctor for the special?, they could of just had the 8th be in it, and become the 9th right at the end
Many have asked that question, There was also a petition for more 8th adventures, even if they were just shorts.
