Just saw the picture of the guy on the official Doctor Who facebook page. I like what I see, given that I know nothing about him. He's an older man again, and that makes me happy.
I really don't....I'd given up paying attention to Tennant's era by then and never watched more than a couple of episodes of the first series of Torchwood. It's nice that the BBC have finally stopped pandering to shallow fangirls and gone back to an older actor.
I dont see why an older guy cant have fangirls. Dude, old guys are hot. XD Sorry, had to make that joke. XD
It's been awhile since I saw Fires of Pompeii, so I'm not really sure who he played (kind of amusing, though, that that was also the episode that Karen Gillan was). I should look up some of the things he's done, though, since I'm not very familiar with... *sees Neil Gaiman's twitter* Holy crap, it's the Angel Islington! Okay, now I'm definitely excited.
There's nothing wrong with thinking that way. Turning the Doctor into a woman is a terrible idea, and I'm continually irritated by how many fan sites have treated a gender switch as a genuinely preferable option this time around. If the BBC want a "female Doctor", they should bring back Romana, or create a new character entirely. Do something sensible like that. As for Capaldi, I've seen Fires of Pompeii, and that's the only thing I've ever seen the man in. I do like that they cast an older Doctor again. I think Hartnell was 55 when he got the role originally, though he wore a wig and played the Doctor as an old man. It should be a nice change of pace to go back to an older version of the character.
If they want to make it interesting, they should kill him and have Romana or Susan take over till he comes back in a later season calling themselves doctor in his honor.
This guy was actually in the World War Z movie. Brad Pitt's character met Peter Capaldi's character is the UK. Peter Capaldi's character played a Doctor at the World Health Organization. In the credits, he was listed as the W.H.O. Doctor.
