So with MMC producing IDW inspired Overlord and Arcee, Maketoys producing a Lost Light Swerve replete with drinks tray, iGear doing a design for Impactor, an Ironfist in the works, and I'm sure much more as well. Are you happy that the third party companies are embracing the IDW comic designs? Or does it irk you? Or leave you distinctly non plussed?

    RUNG WHEN TURD PARTIES?!?!!?

    ...ahem...

I don't think they're embracing it that much. Most of the recent figures are just taking some minor ques from IDW deisgns (like the recent Blurr) but still not going full on page acurate designs. Only a few are literally 100% the same the rest are a mix of the G1 cartoon aesthetic with the IDW designs.

Still I like the fact that the comic book made such an impact that not only Hasbro but 3rd parties as well (who are adult oriented figures) are taking more interest in making said characters. Really goes to show you what good writing can do.

There aren´t enough variations of "Yes!" in the human vocabulary and in all known dialects to say this.

I like 3P making stuff we don't see from Hasbro. IDW is possible, but I also want to see some Dreamwave, Marvel Blackthorne, G1 animated series stuff. Preferably either the basic characters Hasbro never did right (A Voyager Soundwave or Seeker), or some character never done (Autobot X, Devcon, Scrounge, Big Red).

I would buy the shit of a IDW deluxe Guzzler (especially if it´s in a spider tank form).

One of the problem I see is that the 3rd party figures are usually very blocky and full angular shapes. That's why I doubt that we'll ever get some of the more "thin" weirder looking bots like MTMTE Whirl like say along the lines of this:

But hey if we can at least get the Chaos Theory Whirl:

The risk here is Hasbro IS doing IDW designs. So a company is much safer making some obscure Marvel or Dreamwave character. (HINT! HINT!)

But Hasbro might delegate those designs to just Cyberverse toys. I mean, I love my Guzzler, but a 3rd party based on deluxe sized would be something worthy.

VERY good point. I think Toyworld Orion is an excellent example of a very dynamic design ending up very blocky in execution by a third party. On the plus side, Maketoy's IDW Swerve looks like he jumped right out of the comic pages :)

I love IDW-inspired stuff and hell yes I want more of it, but it's got to be done right.

I am still scared that Skids is going to come in undersized.

I don't collect IDW and I'm in it mostly for the love of the cartoon, but I wouldn't turn away an IDW-inspired design either. As long as they fill holes in my classics collection and don't repeat characters ad nauseum I'm good.

YES! At some point someone will figure out how to make a RID Prowl that can merge with a 3PC Devastator, too. ;)

Oh god yes! Griffith's design for Prowl is SWEET!

And it's more doable in toy from than 99% of the WFC/FOC designs!

I LOVE that design and would buy that in a heart beat. You wouldn't even have to make him Transform with any partciular 3rd party Devestator just include an alternate Devestator head with connectors for both Hercules and Giant, bam! done.

I also want Voyager IDW Ironhide/Ratchet

except, you do need him to transform since he takes Hook's place as the upper Torso and Hook becomes the right leg...which means Hook also needs to be remade, or...

...new 3pc "Modular" Devastator with IDW Scrapper and RID Prowl included!

Hasbro is doing enough of that. Not everyone likes the IDW Designs.

I voted yes, but I agree that HASBRO is really giving us A LOT of the IDW designs.
