Do use a figure of one figure, as another person?
For Example:I gave my voyager skywarp a cane, and made him animated Rotf Jetfire.

With generic cookie-cutter characters like those found in the Unicron trilogy, yeah. Not as convincing (or at all) with Classics/Movie/Animated figs.

I use G1 Windcharger as my G1 Fort Max. Takes a bit of imagination. Sure makes for easier storage.

I repurpose figures quite a bit when working on fiction, actually.

For example, I consider my silver Alternity Convoy to be a modern-Earth form of one timeline or other's Optimus Primal - albeit one who might need to sport a Maximal logo some day...

Also, I use Movie Stockade as a re-formatted version of G1 Ruckus.

Aside from total re-purposing, I can sometimes use figures of a certain character to either represent the same being from a different timeline, or a somewhat different aspect of the same character.

For example, I would consider Movie Crankcase as a valid figure to represent G1 Crankcase.

In contrast, I like to imagine the new Universe Countdown as a kind of larger transtector armour, which could (in-setting) house the G1 Micromaster Countdown form within, akin to what one might see in series like Masterforce and Victory.

I pretend my Beast Machines Jet Drone is Jetstorm, since it look's a lot more like him than the actual Jetstorm toy. Also, if I don't konw a charcter's personality, I just make one up.

I fit figures from other lines in with my universe collection as it suits the purpose. Mostly G1 fills the spot, but lately I've found a few animated(Blurr, Swindle, Swoop) that work pretty good. Also Brakedown when Grimlock wants to hear story.

    :sly:  :confused2

I use my Movie Crankcase (I think that's the one...the repaint of Cybertron Deluxe Red Alert) as a stand in for Shockwave in my Classicsverse 'Cons. One day I'll get around to sculpting him a new head...when I get around to buying some new putty, that is.

No. I just refer to each figure by their name and what part of the franchise they came from, so it would be something like:

G1 25th Anniversary Optimus, Movie Leader Class Optimus, Galaxy Force Optimus, etc.

I'm the exact same way. With my Unicron Trilogy figures, I didn't pay attention to any of the fiction, so they've all been 'blank slate' characters that I've repurposed into a new continuity.

With the Classics toys, they are too tied to the fiction that I just enjoy them as representations of my favorite characters.

Since I mostly have UT toys, I find them fairly interchangeable, less so with Classics or Movie toys. In some of my fictions, Armada Sideswipe gets upgraded into Energon Ironhide, and sometimes he gets morphed into Cheetor. I also use Terrorsaur as a beast mode of Starscream, among other things.
