Most of the CHUG/CW/TR megatrons have had SOMETHING good about them but never perfect. Do you think there is ANY chance we could get either a voyager or leader Megatron that turns into a modified Walther P-38? Maybe even come with a small p-38 that could fit in someone else's hand?

The initial nerf gun Megatron is pretty good in the Transformers United paint scheme. Just wish the wings folded in to the point you can't see them.

Turning only into a handgun is nostalgic, but it's a pretty dumb alt mode on its own. It can't move, it needs someone else to fire it, it uses the questionable mass-shifting thing...

And why does matching an alt mode from 1984 make it perfect? Megatron moves with the times. We should too.

Honestly the sheer mountain of real actual legalities get in the way of a realistic gun Megatron.

I've always thought the gun was a stupid pairing to go against a foe that turned into a semi truck. A tank made far more sense.

But realistically, we are never getting a voyager or leader class Megatron that turns into something that looks like an actual gun.

It's all a matter of perspective. Me, I think CW Megatron WAS the perfect CHUG Megs. CHUG, in its inception, was supposed to be "updates" of older characters; old G1 guys given different gimmicks and more modern vehicle modes and transformations. Leader Megatron from last year was exactly that for me - he's not a gun anymore and he's never gonna be a gun again, so what's the next best thing? Remember how he was just a tank like 22 years ago and it was awesome? We're gonna do that again. To me, Leader Megatron in CHUG is exactly what Megatron was supposed to be in CHUG, and he's already perfect.

if you made him leader size, the gun would be too large to be realistic

I'm going to be using Titans Return Voyager Megatron, he's perfect enough for me to display next to CW Optimus Prime on my 84/85 CHUG shelf.

There is NO way they'd be allowed to make an updated CHUG Megatron using that gun mode, no submarine mode is going to save them either.

And I'm glad they can't, that was stupid, to me Megatron makes more sense as a tank. Powerful and intimidating. Though I would also go with a helicopter.

Yeah, don't think they'll ever be a perfect CHUG G1 Sunbow Megatron.

But there could always be a perfect G1 Battlestars Super Megatron. we've been denied too long...

Transformers United is the perfect CHUG Megatron for me.

We're never going to get a realistic looking gun Megatron from Hasbro in a long, long time. Not with how "gunshy" the populace seems to be right now, and how gun laws work regarding toy guns. Best bet is to import a Takara MP V.2 whenever it comes out.

You can remove them for robot mode. There's also a different scope/arm cannon and gun barrel for his back available on shapeways.

If you have the depth in your display, the wings can fold all the way back so that they are mostly unnoticeable from the front.

I love CW Leader Megatron. He looks very good with MP-10, but looks very out of place with any other CW figure. Even the Leader Seekers look out of place next to Megatron. He is the best Megatron to come out in a long while.

You know, people always seem to cite some mysterious "law" regarding toy guns, and how a legit G1 Megs would be illegal. The closest I can find is only regarding toy guns that replicate an original, and have no markings denoting they are not real.

Am I missing something? We have airsoft, bb/pellet, paint, and endless 'replica' toy guns with orange plugs in them. What are people clinging to when it comes to Megs?

It's more of a public perception thing. I mean, even the most "realistic" looking toy guns go out of their way to make them look as toy-like as possible. The OP asked about the prospects of a realistic P-38 representation, and if you want that, then you're probably going to be waiting for a long, long time. Outside of Masterpiece and 3P, it ain't gonna happen. Not for US retail.
