Do you think this design of Optimus Prime should have been used in AoE instead of the current one?

I actually prefer the original design for Optimus from the first 3 films mainly because it has some of the iconic parts like the G1 Optimus design like the chest windows. [IMG]

I hope in future films they change Optimus Prime to something that's close to the Prime 1 Studio's design. It's a good mix of G1 & movie style and it actually make it look like he can transform into a truck.

well i have a weird thing that says that i prefer transformer designs that have their alt mode visible and part of the body.

i know that the new gen prime has those but it doesn't realy show you what those pieces are regarding alt mode.

megatron get's a pass since his alt mode is sybertronian but would still be nice to see where his wings go. (WFC and FOC had great cybertronian robot modes) most alt parts visible without them acting as kibble.

He definitely needs to go back to something more classic. With everyone looking like a knight or a samurai or a human soldier, they all look like they're going to a costume party or something. If they struck a balance between 'he is this sort of warrior' and 'this is a robot from another planet' then it wouldn't be so bad, but there's nothing subtle about some of the designs.

That has even less truck kibble than first trilogy Optimus. I honestly don't like that look very much. I like the g1 design and I like the movie design, but they don't mesh very well.

I don't think the G1 asthetic would fit well in the movieverse.

Something nearer this concept may work better than the more straight up G1 design [IMG]

And to the people who say the design in the OP's first post isn't that much different from the final design, it's the exact same different between the AOE leader mould and the Armor Knight/Calibur version, which are different enough to warrant a remould.

Eh, I don't want to see a G1 deco on Givemeyourfaceimus Prime. Stick with the flames.

That's the picture I was about to post. :lol

This is for sure one of my favorite concept designs I've seen for movie Optimus.

No reason why the flames couldn't still be used on that sort of design.

I would use that design but replace the head with the AOE style one

I know it have cost more in CGI, but I agree with everyone that these films had missed opportunities. Here's one example (the shield glowing with plasma)

The sword itself was gonna glow orange. It was orange in the first teaser and it was awesome. I'm kinda sad they changed it.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. The knight thing was a cool novelty, but it's worn thin if you ask me. An Optimus that doesn't look like he can turn into a truck just isn't right in my eyes.

....I can't believe that we're at the point where some folks actually defend it when you can't tell what the robots turn into.

The 'this should have been his before/after look!' regarding the design is amusing the heck out of me btw, considering the gauntlets and rocket boots are from the dropped Silver Knight design that we even got some toys of. :lol

Yeah, while I don't necessarily think the robot modes need to have huge unbroken chunks of alt mode on them, designs like Drift and Crosshairs work ok for me despite the obvious unsubtle motifs. But even Megatron doesnt have any of his made up alt mode on his robot form. I think a balance between the two would work fine.
