Especially mp-47, I don't think it's worth the price at all

I'd prefer the price to come down a bit. However I'll still gladly pay what they charge to get the best possible representation of my favorite characters for my collection. Looking over my shelf, filled with all these terrific figures, is priceless.

If QC is consistence and there are no butt flaps, skeleton hands, breakeable knees, hip panels and clown feet where there shouldnt, I would take the increase with a smile.

My opinions only on a few of the more recent releases:

OP MP-44: worth it at the Amazon Japan preorder price...overpriced at MSRP (some QC/design issues, just does not appear worth $450 to me)
Bee MP-45: overpriced (small, few accessories, shoddy QC)
BA MP-46: borderline overpriced...but that bot mode is amazing...I’d say worth it at MSRP...I’d own her if she wasn’t a spider...
Hound MP-47: it would be worth MSRP to me if not for the horrible QC

I guess, it wouldn’t hurt if the prices were 1/3-1/4 less .

This a no brainer, they are way too cheap!
I'm shure there are enough radical, but not too logical, fans who will pay 500$ for a plastic deluxe class figure that looks like a badly drawn 80's cartoon caracter that provides a good memory of childhood for hastak to try and go into mega ripp of mode :)

    Raise those prices now!!!!

I think the price is starting to outpace the value, with the newer figures all having some QC issues, design flaws, or paint that flakes off at the slightest touch... Don't get me wrong, I have MP-45 and 47, but if I hadn't gotten a slightly better price on both of them, I would not be happy. Hound has been mostly solid, with a hinge that is now splitting, and bee has a floppy knee that was assembled incorrectly but would be far too difficult to fix. Prime... I just don't have the money for him and have nowhere to put the trailer...

I sense you might be just a little sarcastic here … :D  But completely correct.

My vote is YES. The prices weren't worth it even before the increase. Now they're in the "Are you freaking kidding me?" category. No Transformer is worth half my monthly mortgage payment. And then there's the backpack and clown feet on Bee. The goofy face on Sunstreaker. And breaks on Hound that make it seem like a dollar store knockoff. Frankly, apart from Rodimus, the earlier MPs were far better (and I usually didn't consider them worth it, either!)

So they're charging more for lower quality. Overpriced is an understatement.

Too high now? I thought they were too high from the very start. Now, I would describe it as ludicrous.

Yes. With how high the prices are the QC should be perfect, but the QC sucks so you aren't even getting what you pay for.

I can't speak as to Takara's and retailer's justification to the current prices, but for me, I would say yes. When they were selling around $90-150 early on in the MP line, I was fine with that. I wasn't a MP completionist by any means but I did get the occasional character I liked growing up. I remember paying about $150 for MP Grimlock and Soundwave when they first came out. But with them now around $150 for the smaller ones and $250+ for the larger ones, I had to step away. It's just not economical for me anymore. Not when I can buy several Generations for my shelves vs. just one MP.

But even though I can't speak from the materials, manufacturing cost in terms of the final prices, I will say that there is no excuse for poor QC on what is their premium line. QC is important in all product lines but even more so for products $150 and up.

They're an absolute joke. They're pricing themselves out of a market. Yes, there will always be one or two die-hards who will pay no matter what, but the rest of us are leaving in droves.

I used to have a sizeable MP collection, put a good chunk of change into it. I got fed up with the "V. Eleventyseven" of a character that should've been right, out of the gate, otherwise it's not truly a Masterpiece. Not to mention paint chipping, chrome rubbing, breaking panels/hinges/joints, etc.

If I hear the argument of "well, yes, it can transform but it's not really meant to" as justification one more time...

Sometimes, people like me just wake up and have had enough to tell TakTom to take a hike. 3rd party, included in that take a hike thing, as well.

I'd say yes. I'd also include that there are other critical problems with the line, and that I think it's ridiculous that several serious, deal-breaker issues exist when some of them are relatively easy to control.

If you get a flawless copy of a figure , the price should be justified. I mean , why else would you buy it in the first place ? If your figure is breaking before you even get to take it out of the box , or breaks while messing around with it , well that’s just unacceptable & you should be able to return it for a full refund , not another copy , a REFUND .

    Yes.

I no longer even entertain the possibility of MP purchases. I was happiest when they were in the $90 - $120 range. When they hit $150, I had to pause and consider, and my buying considerably dropped. Even up to $180, I would think about a purchase (couldn't pull the trigger, though).

    $200+?

    Nope.

I was never fully invested in the MP line, just picking up favorite characters, but I don't believe I'll be purchasing anymore.
