That is, counting such things like the 80s cartoon, 80s comic, Dreamwave G1 and IDW G1 as seperate universes despites them all being G1.

What appeals to you most about the movieverse that hasn't been done in other Transformers universes?

No. I love the movies, but it certainly isn't the best.

I'd the best part not done elsewhere is the global scale in the movies.

Not the best. That's not to say it's terrible, but it's far from the best.

Not the best, but one of my favorites.

But seriously, no. :lol  Not my a long shot. I enjoy it greatly for the most part, but that doesn't mean that it's the best in any capacity. If anything, it's sort of in the "middle ground"-area, where things of overall mediocrity go to stagnate. The place where things like TFP, Armada/Cybertron and G1 sit. They're not the best, but they're hardly the worst. Does it do some things right? Of course. Does it do some things wrong? No doubt. But then again, what series doesn't?

Honestly, it's the concept of the franchise being done in live-action that appeals to me the most.

I like to count myself in the oft-forgotten group of "movie fans" who aren't "Bay fans", but merely "movieverse fans" in general. Do we care whose name is listed first in the credits? No. Do we care what the “_____” is in front of “-formers”? No. We don’t care who directs the movie. We don’t care if it’s Bay. We’re not fans of Bay, we’re merely fans of live-action Transformers, of which, he just happened to be in charge of this time around. We defend the movies not because of Bay, but because of the movie itself. We just want live-action Transformers, whether it’s Bay’s Transformers 4 or someone else’s reboot in a few years. We don’t care. We just want a theatrical Transformers movie that we can enjoy. So it’s a win-win situation for us, no matter how things turn out. Bay makes Transformers 4? We’ll be happy (most likely). Someone else reboots the franchise? We’ll be happy (most likely). We just. want. live-action Transformers. That’s all. I was/am merely glad that we've seen our little toy franchise come to the big-screen in a photorealistic way that pleases me the most, no matter how it turned out (hint: it could've been a lot worse...).

TL;DR, I like the fact that it's live-action and very visually detailed.

    It's the most distinguished.

And I'll leave it at that.

    No.

One of the most unique, yes. One of my favourites, yes. But not the best. Not even close.

    Nope

It did bring the TF universe to a much broader audience, but is nowhere near the best.

    Not really, no.

When it's at it's best, though, the movies have provided us visuals that have been the closest thing we have to seeing Transformers "in the real world". When they've set out to do so, they've gone in new directions with the franchise, and developed new concepts while still holding on to a lot of the "core" of the history. I just wish they'd be willing to go farther with them, and put some real meat behind their universe instead of shallow spectacle.

Unfortunately, the major failing of the movieverse (even with the massive success it's attained and the attention it's brought back to the brand) is a disconnect with that aspect that was a strength in most of the other incarnations: character and charm. The transformers in the movieverse are essentially all either monstrous, shallow, inconsistent, or unendearing. Sentinel is the only one I would say shows any signs of real depth, and who develops real relationships with the other characters (besides the Sam/Bumblebee dynamic, and even that I'd say is only done with any sort of effectiveness in the first film), and even he isn't nearly as capable of evoking an emotional response from the audience as he should be (you know, beyond "HE KILLED IRONHIDE A BLOO BLOO BLOO"). This lack of connection to the titular characters prevents the movieverse from rising to the heights of other incarnations of the brand, such as Beast Wars, Animated, and the original Marvel comics. The movieverse truly shines visuallly at times, but even then, there's a lot of chaff to go through to find the grain.

Not the best. But still pretty good. The Lore has/had a lot of potential, really neat visuals and sounds, amazing robot gore, weighty fights, transforming while in motion, a global impact on Earth, etc. Some of the robots have characterization too, but they're ALL blurred and in the background and underplayed.

The movie verse opened my mind to a whole new realm. How would transformers REALLY look. Even the once beloved Altenator would have looked horrid on the screen. the transformers looked both Alien and very believable.
As far as Bay I think he did a great job. People like to act like Transformer fiction has been on some super deep level. It sadly rarely has been more than an episode here and there or a comic arc. Bay honestly was just as good as most story arcs in cartoons. Bay made this franchise we love on top of the world again. That makes me happy. When girls see my collections they don't look crazy, they go "Bumbleebee!!" So I am cool with it all
Not the best I will say between Animated and the Beast Saga are the best

Nope. Not even close infact in my opinion it's the worst.

Whatever good ideas and credibility this franchise had (live-action wise) was flushed done the toilet with annoying human sidekicks that were really the main characters, a face ripping hero, R2Bee2 and extremley unfair, one sided and anti-climatic fights between the two warring factions.

i love the realism, the way it showed off human-to-robot scale (giving you the idea that these ARE giant robots), and the global scale, like firehawc said. but no, most certainly not the best. it had so much potential though.

The universe as a whole is pretty good actaully and has some cool ideas but it's not the best.
The worst part of the universe are however the movies and that's the main problem :lol

If anything Animated had hands down the best and richest Transformers universe we got to this date.

Visually, yes. The action sequences, transformations, and use of real vehicles and settings blow all the other series out of the water.

    Otherwise, no.

No. For me, some things don't translate well into a live-action medium.

I like the movies, especially the designs/aesthetics/fight scenes, but even I, Meta777, will admit they are far from the best.

I reserve that honour to my bros Beast Wars and Animated.
