Which aspect of it we have seen so far do you predict will be criticized?

How do you think it will be ranked? Higher than BB, lower? Lower or higher than the Bay movies, 2007 movie etc.?

Higher than the bay movies by default. No idea why some people on this site believe it’ll be on par or worse than some of the worst reviewed Bay films. Ridiculous imo. The leaks aren’t THAT bad. Lmao. But I think lower than Bumblebee. Maybe in the 70-85% range on Rotten Tomatoes.

If we're talking about critical reviews, unlikely. Even the Bumblebee movie recieved middling reviews, though less scornful than the prior Bay-directed films. I would expect this film to rate worse than that, based on what limited info we've seen, but likely better than the lowest of the Bay films.

The entire franchise has shown that these sorts of reviews are sort of divorced from the financial performance of the films and their ability to attract fans, however, so I wouldn't worry too much. They're sort of irrelevant, unless you really want to look at the films from a cinematic/artistic perspective.

Hmm interesting question, after watching the trailer i am not sure if the movie will have a solid plot that pleases critics but the film does looks like it’s gonna be a love letter to fans … if the trailer was any indication towards the movie ( as the trailer was mostly transformers centric ) im hoping for most of the film , we will have transformers characters in the forefront ! With actual character developments for atleast the major characters like prime & scourge .
In that case I think people will really like it regardless of the plot even if it is a bit weak .

Oh, and to answer this question, definitely the plot/structuring of the movie. Will probably hear stuff like “gets messy at times” or “not well paced”

I think CGI quality will be criticized. I doubt we are going to see something completely different from what is shown in the trailer.

But maybe it is not too bad if CGI isn't as good as back in the day, perhaps then there could be more screen time for the robots?

I think it will be higher than 50%
The fact that the robots are the main focus and the fact that Beast Wars fans who are not TF fans have been waiting for this kind of movie for a long time, makes me think that it will be much better received than the bay movies.

Critically? We know the movies, even the 1986 animated one, have reviewed anywhere from mediocre to piss-poor with BB being an outlier by only a bit. I don't see how this would be any different.

By default it can't be any worse than either RoTF or TLK. I'm personally placing it somewhere between either just under '86 or between '07 and BB.

I predict the RT critic score will be somewhere between 45%-65%. Somewhat better than the Bay movies, but still bogged down by a convoluted plot. Apparently according to the test screenings, they don't really explain anything about the Maximal's origins so I expect that to be a big thing that'll be criticized.

I have no idea, and I don't care either way. I will go theaters to check out the latest Transformers movie regardless, and I hope to enjoy it, and if I don't, it won't be worth making a big deal over.

This. Why would we care what critics say? I don't remember any case where the opinion of a critic was the same as the one I had. A critic has completely different critera to rate a movie then I do.

For example: American Ninja and American Ninja 2, both have a tomato score of 0%, the audience score for the first is 47% and for the second 39%. The second one is the much better movie and both movies are awesome for what they are. These movies don't need much of a story. The typical story of a girl getting kidnapped and guy who beats everyone saves the world is enough for these movies as long as the fight scenes are awesome. Because that's what you watch these movies for: A guy who single handedly saves the world and is better than anyone.

A movie that gets great reviews by critics is not guaranteed to entertain me. Because some of this movies are not meant to entertain, they are meant to make you think. Sometimes I like those movies, sometimes I don't. From an artistic point of view, no blockbuster is great per default, because they basically follow the same formula and are shallow. But it's what people like. So...

But I wouldn't mind if the new Transformers movie does entertain me and also gets great reviews.

TL;DR: Critical reception of a movie does not equal the value it has for the target audience.

I think it'll be another critical slaughter if the trailer is any indication of the final product. If it's closer in nature to Bumblebee, then it'll receive more positive feedback than negative. I'm at the point where I wouldn't bet a dime on this thing, though. It could go either way and I like to bet on sure things, I'm not much of a gambler by nature.

The thing about this is this is gonna be a Transformers movie without Michael Bay's direction. The Bayverse movies weren't just bad, people behaved as if they were jacked up on acid. There was a constant insanity that permeated those movies and it gets more noticeable as the movies progressed. Even if Bumblebee 2018 being good was a fluke and ROTB is mediocre or even kinda bad, I still have a feeling it's gonna be better than the best Bayverse movie(whichever you think that is) by a magnitude or two. I certainly feel like it's gonna be watchable in a way the Bay movies aren't. And if it's watchable, I'd bet a good amount of the audiences will enjoy it - and therefore give it a decent rating even if they have no critical praise for it.

I don't think the movie will get good reviews. But that wont really affect me on watching it.

I don’t know about what exactly the reviews will be, but I don’t expect the movie to be good at all.

I think critic reviews mean jackshit relative to how you respond to the product.

    • Gets bad reviews and you wanted it to be bad? "See, I told you."

    • Gets bad reviews and you wanted it to be good? "These critics have an agenda and are biased."

    • Gets good reviews and you wanted it to be bad? "These critics have an agenda and are biased."

    • Gets good reviews and you wanted it to be good? "I knew it. It met/exceeded my expectations."
