As of now, the simplified one-step changers we've been getting, seemingly at the sacrifice of the higher quality Transformers we've gotten used to. Personally, I like the idea of Transformers that change in one step, but the figures are just SO bad. The vehicle are, average, but the robot modes really just suck. But, do you think it's possible that they could get better? I personally think, as time goes on, and as they continue to be engineered further, that they could get better. Think about it. During Generation One, the whole transformation gimmick was new, and toys just weren't posable or screen accurate. But today, look at the same characters in the Generations and Masterpiece lines. We've come seemingly eons further than the toys around then. So now, the one-step transformation is still pretty new (yes I know about the Beast Wars basic line, but even those toys were primitive) but do you think as time goes on we'll get one-step toys that are both screen accurate and posable? I think we will. How about you, TFW? And how do you think they will fare with the fandom?
I'm okay with them, they're just too spendy for what they are. Flip and Change Lockdown is best AOE Lockdown.
I have a few of the smaller one steps and I think they're great. Grimlock is pretty good overall, Lockdown looks nice, and Drift is really fun. At $10, though, they're kind of expensive (but Deluxes are pushing $20 almost, so I guess it's understandable). I must say, though, that I enjoy these guys more than some of the new mainline figures.
They're for kids. There's no reason to evolve them if kids will buy them as they are. Unless of course the fandom actually starts being them in masses.
depends on if they are popular. look at the legends figures during the cybertron era. and now look at the ones of tf prime and ect. the difference is amazing on how much those toys have evolved in just roughly a decade. if they become popular, they will too. if not, they'll be replaced with something new.
It kind of sucks that they aren't nearly as good as the (technically) one-step Animated Activators. Some of those were genius, with the line producing arguably the best version of TFA Megatron out there. All these new one-steps need is the ball-joint goodness of the Activators to be great toys. As they are, they're disappointing.
I'd agree, except Bot Shots evolved considerably. So it is possible they'll notice and evolve even a kiddy line.
Botshots had to, though. The same exact gimmick repeated with a limited number of molds repainted over and over got stale. Unfortunately, when they evolved, the line died out.
There good for kids but unless they evolve to look screen accurate and have articulation I doubt collectors will accept many of them in there collections.
I think One-Step Transformers would be more accepted if we can get something similar to maybe the early Beast Wars or Machine Wars basics. Sure they were flip changers most of the time however they did transform in one single step and the best part was they had a pretty decent amount of articulation as well.
The key is maintaining the one-step gimmick while having the quality of posable and screen accurate figures.
I stand by my statement in other threads, beast wars rattrap was a one step changer, with tons of articulation and a cool gun that fits inside.
On the contrary, one-step changers have already evolved backward. We used to have cool Animated Activators with this gimmick, now we have this total crap.
