Yeah, "other companies" meaning Hasbro instead of Takara or Takara instead of Hasbro.

I recently regretted TT Unite Warriors Bruticus. Sold it. (haven't found anything to replace it at that scale yet)

A while ago, I regretted TT MP Ironhide. Sold it. (haven't found anything better yet)

Not a big deal, part of the fun of collecting I figure.

I have a few Takara figures, but mainly get Hasbro because of availability. If both were at retail to be picked between, I'd still probably prefer Hasbro.
Most of the time, the Takara stuff just doesn't do anything for me because I'm more about the toy and less about the 'G1 accuracy' of the deco.
I have Hasbro Blurr and it's perfectly fine with me.
Admittedly, there have been times where I thought the Takara paint or deco was quite striking or appealing, but aside from a few where the plastic color was the main difference, I can't actually say I regret not getting the import.
I do think I'd have regretted NOT getting United Lugnut. That piece is glorious!

Pretty much every CW version that I bought out of impatience and a need to fill a shelf, and then sold off because the Takara UW version I really wanted finally came out.

nope. I'll wait as long as I need and pay as much as I need to get the version I actually want instead of settling for something that's cheaper or comes out sooner.

    1. Universe Galvatron. Mania King is on another level.
    2. CW Devastator. I should have waited for Takara.

I really like my Hasbro CW Devastator, and got him for a decent price, but I still prefer the Takara Devastator, and kinda wish I would've waited for the Takara one to go on sale before picking up my Devy.

I also like the Takara Arcee paint job much better than the Hasbro one. Considering I never saw the Hasbro Arcee in a store, I'm happy that I imported the Takara one. The premium was worth it for me to get a great version of an important TF character.

Hasbro Generations Leader Jetfire & CW Magnus. I think Takara did it better in both cases in terms of colours/ lack of Chrome.

Although I think I've become more patient in my spending. I waited to see the Takara versions of Hardhead, TR Blurr and Skullcruncher, and haven't regretted waiting.

Similarly, I reckon I'll be waiting to see what Takara do with TR Megatron in terms of paint before buying the Hasbro one.

Yes but Takara or Hasbro? Have you bought one by one company to find you like the others better?
That's what the question is asking in the title.
Nothing has been said about unofficial stuff.

Wish I'd had the money ready at the time for Takara Blurr. And I was sorely tempted by Takara's Legends Galvatron over the Hasbro version with the less paint and durpy grey plastic.

I'm skipping TR PMOP for Legends Super Ginrai. I love my binaltechs but slightly prefer Alternators because of the whole diecast versus plastic issue. I wish I had not bought any 3P combiners but at the time I did not know that HasTak would be doing it themselves.

I will always go with Hasbro and I will never be disappointed in my choice, and its mainly cause of cost but...

I'm glad that for the most part the cheaper option has the best paint apps, Unite Warriors is the greatest offender of terrible paint choices. Except if I want a Headmaster Chromedome for my 87 shelf I'm going to have to stick with Titans Return despite not liking the IDW influence. Really wish I could afford the Legends version.

No real regrets yet, tho Ive mostly stuck with the Hasbro versions because of cost and availability like others have stated.

Nah. Both versions end up being pretty good, with the Classics toys I just got the Hasbro versions and I was very happy with them, no regrets there. More recently I have found that I often do like Takara's version for various reasons. I have both versions of Superion, but I actually like Hasbro's version better. I like Takara's Devastator better because I wanted the individual weapons to look like the G1 weapons. It's all about individual choice, I don't think there is a "one size fits all" mentality that makes sense here.

tr blur looks sooo ugly once you get the takara blur in hand it's like night and day.
it's not just that hasbro blur in monochrome, but that they used such a greenish sickly shade of metalic blue plastic.
    totaly regret gettting him.

Nope. I'm almost always happy with the cheaper Hasbro version, and I like to customize enough to fix any problems I have with the deco.

Hindsight being 20/20, I wish I had waited a few years and bought the Takara Beast Wars Metals version of TM Megatron so I wouldn't have to deal with the GPS issues.

To be honest, I go back and forth on this sometimes, usually finding something I like about both versions, that I miss if I only buy Hasbro's or Takaras.
