I didn't mind Unicron being Earth in Prime, I thought it worked fine for the show, but... I really feel it only should've been done there and I rolled when my eyes when I heard that The Last Knight had Unicron be Earth.... (his horns come out when he senses Cybertron, even though that didn't happen in DOTM, but when has Michael Bay ever cared about continuity?)

Needs to be his own thing. Making everything about Earth makes the universe feel smaller.

I agree. I didn't mind him being Earth but it's best that he's his own planet

I love Transformers Prime but I do prefer Unicron being its own planet.

Unicron works better as his own planet. The Transformers are an alien race, after all. Not everything needs to revolve around the Earth. If you want Earth and humans to be the absolute focus, with transforming robots thrown in you might as well just be doing Diaclone or Macross.

    His own body.

The sooner and further away the brand gets from the whole "such-and-such has been buried on Earth since ye olden days of yore" routine - which essentially is what Earthicron epitomizes - the better.

Other planet, BUT more importantly, I'd rather him be a Transformer built the same as the other Transformers rather than a deity.

Eh, I don't know about you but

Primordial force from the dawn of time sounds MUCH better than being built by some monkey thing.

I'm not too thrilled that we're living on a ball of piping hot lava, but it's still far preferable to living on the surface of a planet-eating robot.

Jokes aside, I think the concept of Unicron being Earth is an interesting one, but typically it hasn't been explored in an actually interesting way yet.
I wouldn't want Hasbro to portray him like that all the time, since I don't think they've used him being a space-wandering planet in a very interesting way either so far.

I'm the complete opposite. I always found it amusing that the creator of Unicron was Primacron, and I found it hilarious how Grimlock mocked it.

More importantly though, in G1, there was always a link between some smaller beings and Unicron, whether that was Primacron or the Quintessons. In some supplementary material, the Quintessons are described as the enforcers of Unicron who pick off any survivors or escapees from Unicron's planetary descriptions.

Personally speaking, my preference would be for Unicron to be the ultimate Quintesson weapon gone rogue. Similar to Primacron, but with the Quintessons instead, because the Quintessons made the Autobots and Decepticons, and they're connected to Unicron.

I even wonder if the inclusion of the Quintessons in the 1986 movie is related to the idea of them being enforcers of Unicron? Because, unlike FFoD, TT:TM never explores their origins. Yet in the movie, we see Unicron attacking another planet with robots, and the survivors are later seen as Quintesson prisoners and executed. I strongly suspect that's the case.

But in reality, Unicron being built by a super intelligent alien monkey is no more bizarre than if he was theoretically built by five-faced, levitating, alien squids, other than maybe the fact the Quintessons are many individuals, while Primacron is just a single being so far as is known. Maybe there are more of his species who work with him?

Speaking of, what origin was first: the God origin or the Primacron origin?

I know Furman created it for the UK Transformers comics and then carried over to the US comics when he started writing for them.

Never liked the obvious Unicron's Space Robo Ahriman vs Primus's Space Robo Ahura Mazda rip-off. Primacron origin is kinda silly, but I prefer Unicron as something built.

Unicron as Earth is a very limiting idea so I dislike it too.

I'm pretty sure technically the Primacron origin came first.

That's just about my headcanon: One of the Quintessons sold TF technology to the race Primacron is a member of without the permission of the other Quintessons - for which they banished him - and they used it to build a giant weapon to eat the planet of another people they had been in a longstanding war with. Unicron then ate their planet too, in order to gain his freedom from his creators, and Primacron is the last descendant of the people who survived and worked millions of years to build Tornadron with the intent of having him end the threat of Unicron that their people unleashed on the universe.

In hindsight, it's probably fortunate Unicron wasn't given a backstory in the 86 film.

Honestly? Given the two I prefer the monkey thing.

Unicron being cosmic Satan is pretty cringey. Like he can't just be scary because he's the size of a planet, he must also be the literal devil. Who for some reason has a corporeal, mechanical body that can be destroyed.

It's one of the reasons I don't like Unicron as a concept. There's never really a "good" answer to what he is or where he comes from.
