Does anyone here play with their G1 toys or is that just a stupid thing to do since there now collective items more then toys. I play with my Transformers still and there are times i take the G1 guys off the shelf and although they don't have the most articulation they are still fun.

Not sure what the difference is between the first two choices, so I just voted for the first.

G1s are still mighty fun, AWWWW YEAAAHHHHH

I guess i should have made it clearer. The first option i meant is your willing to play with all our G1s while option 2 means there are some that your rather keep safe on a shelf and be safe

Yes I sure do play with them. More than any other transformers to be honest. For me the fun is in the transformation itself, and I don't really pose my toys, so articulation means nothing really. G1 figures tend to be fun to mess around with, no frustration like more modern figures.

If we definite play as in "fiddle" with the transformations, take some pictures, etc. Then yes I do play with my G1 toys, but it's never more than once in a blue moon.m

I used to when I was younger. There's something about letting my inner man child come out that kind of scares me.

Absolutely. G1's are still some of my favorites. I enjoy transformations that don't take me 5min to accomplish.

All the time! All of my G1 toys are either mine from childhood or came from garage sales and the like, so it isn't as if I have any 'minty freshness' to worry about preserving. I do have a couple that are a little more fragile and hard to come by parts for, and those ones I don't tend to play with for obvious reasons. I consider it their retirement.

Toys are toys. They were made to be played with, but ultimately, their purpose is to put a smile on your face. If they do that best in a display case for you then that's awesome, but I don't think that it makes you any less of a collector enjoy them in their original sense, either.

Play in what sense. You won't be seeing me sitting there pushing transformers around making vroom sounds :lol  Sarcasm aside, the only playing around is the transformation and displaying them in poses. Lately I haven't done much of either though :(

Poses? I think perhaps you misunderstood.
    We're talking about G1 Transformers.

I used to have G1 toys. I would stand an Autobot next to a Decepticon, rotate the right shoulder to raise the weapon arm, and then reposition the figures so they were facing each other.
I had hours of fun doing that!

Actually, I exaggerate. It was minutes of fun.

Well, maybe not a full minute or anything... but seconds of fun, definitely.

    Several seconds.

Seriously, G1 toys were huge disappointments to me, even as a child. I saw the cartoon on TV, and loved the characters...
Characters who could turn their heads.
    And bend their knees.
    And spread their legs.
And, you know, actually look cool.
And somehow, they managed to carry their weapons in their vehicle modes!

What a load of false advertising. :mad

I was not a big fan of GI Joe, but at least those action figures could be played with. You know, posed.
Duke, Snake Eyes, Destro and Cobra Commander could ride around in their vehicles.

Spike couldn't ride around in Bumblebee, though.
Hell, there was no Spike. Or Sparkplug. Or Chip. Or Raoul. Or Carly. (Hell, even a friggin' Daniel would've been better than nothing!)

Nope, just robots, with a lot of little spare parts it was difficult to keep track of.
But at least you could rotate the right shoulder to raise the weapon arm, and then reposition the figures so they were facing each other!

    Many seconds of fun.
