So i got this one long shelf, about 55", and currently i have some S1/2 official and 3rd party MPs. There are many offerings from S3 / 4/ 5 (Kup / Rod / UM, and headmasters / targetmasters and Sixshot). Do you guys mix up the Season 1 and 2 with Season 3 / 4 / 5 ? Some of the Season 4 / 5 / 6 have more curved feature (though not all), and i am wondering if they will mix with S 1 and 2 figures. Just curious, as i am planning my shelf out.
Right now my MP display has 4 levels. Bottom is Decepticons, second is Autobots, third is Dinobots and the top level is kind of misc with Titan Devy, OS Feral Rex and Star Saber. The Autobot shelf is mixed with season 1, 2 and 3 bots. Also have the OS Evasion Mode Prime in there, so I'm committing the additional heresy of putting Bayverse with my MP's. Bring it haters!
Yep, I mix them but I only mix seasons 1,2 & 3 movie cast. In my mind I have no problem mixing these three seasons together as I can imagine most of them would have bumped into each other one way another due to the 86 movie. I think the mental gymnastics and brain aneurysms will start to occur when I have to start mixing season 4 with the rest of the gang!
I have a shelf for 4 main characters! ! Megatron, Prime, Starscream and Soundwave. Around that, I have bits and pieces from every line that I change regularly. Sometimes MP, sometimes chug and others. WST, 3rd party, PVC. And also a dedicated G1 panel, and a shelf of customized figures that's I've done over the years, these all get moved around as well. My display doesn't revolve around the cartoon in that sense but I'll keep certain chars together : eg Megs and Galv, Galv, Scourge and Cykes !!
I mix all G1 no matter what season & MP scaled. I keep Decepts & Autobots seperate but accross from each other in a ready for war display.
I'm still trying to re-learn what figures debuted in which seasons so I probably do it accidentally, and several of my shelves are manufacturer-based rather than lore-based.
I have my S1 guys by themselves, arranged around the Ark and Nemesis crews and then the others (Dinobots, Insecticons) who showed up later in the season to their sides, because in my heart of hearts I still see them as The Transformers. In a different area I have a S2.5 shelf, which is basically S2 Autobots being led by Ultra Magnus, with the conehead seekers nearby. Honestly my S3+ collection isn't big enough yet to have any cohesion, though I suspect that's likely to change in 2017. At that point I may have to rearrange things.
It's better to show than tell Eventually the rest will have backgrounds behind them too, but due to the size, it takes more measurements and planning before I can print them out.
The Japanese series Decepticons are going to get their own shelf soon, but I have to finish building a new shelf in another room. Too many figures only so much shelf space.
Dinobots on top shelf, Autobots on shelf below that, Decepticons on shelf below that. All G1 stuff plus Japanese
