    Very much opposed.

I'm already not big on Combiners: in all instances I prefer the individual members and consider the combination an extra.

I also think there are too many combiners. I want Combiners to be something special. In G1 the Constructicons were special. Here was this group with a unifying theme, they were robots and vehicles, and they combined. This was special. Likewise, when the Aerialbots and Stunticons united, it likewise was something. But with the Protectobots and especially the Combaticons, I felt the gimmick diminished the team. And then we got the Predacons and they also combined. And the Terrorcons and the Technobots (although, granted, Computron is interesting because how much the combination sets him back by being too smart, too calculated). The Constructicons need to be a combiner and perhaps one per team besides that. No more.

Furthermore, having the Dinobots combine would diminish the team. These are interesting characters -- at least they were in their original bios and Marvel's version of Grimlock -- making them a combiner ruins that for me, while adding nothing.

I have always HATED the idea of the Dinobots combining. The whole point of the team really seemed to be the "bruisers" for the Autobots. The big guns when needed for big threats like Devastator. They took on UNICRON without combining...yeah, they didn't do a lot, but...that's how I picture the Dinobots as. A unified team with a common theme (Oh! A rhyme!) of turning into dinosaurs and the ones that could do the most damage in a pinch.

I’m surprised that so many people are against it, personally I figured it was destined to happen one day.

A point to note is that the combiner doesn't need to be humanoid.

Look at the Dinozord Megazord tank.

Am I okay with combining Dinobots? Yes.
Am I okay with THE dinobots combining? Not really.
Dinosaur robots are cool, as are combining robots, so the two can coexist. However, I feel like the chunky g1 big guys work well enough as bruisers, so they should be left as is. That said, between grimstone, scorn, Scowl, slash and paddles, you can still have a combiner. Volcanicus can coexist with the original 5, as the overlap of two awesome things, he deserves to.

I'm firmly in the "the 5 original Dinobots are tough enough on their own, they shouldn't need to combine" camp. Plus, like some others have mentioned having to fall back on a combined mode feels like a crutch, and I really can't imagine Grimlock being able to swallow his pride enough to admit that he can't win a fight without combining.

The Predacons being treated as the Dinobots' equals and still having a combined mode, I can completely see as being in-character. Razorclaw isn't the sort to care about pride, he only wants to hunt and win. I can absolutely see him using Predaking as a trump card for those situations where the individual Predacons just aren't cutting it. It's like that bit in Heavy Metal War when Hook is all, "This is bad, Scrapper! They've called in the heavy artillery!" and Scrapper responds, "Then it's time we did the same, only heavier!" before giving the command to combine into Devastator.

I do think it nice when combiners are used as a last resort, like in Revenge of Bruticus where the Combaticons try to fight off the Autobots and Decepticons as a team first.

The G1 Dinobots, no. However other groups I don't mind. Grimstone and his PCC group, sure. Dinoforce in Victory, absolutely. Even Mega Dinobot from the Energon toyline works (as incredibly awkwardly proportioned as it is). Volcanicus serves no purpose other than to add an unnecessary play feature in a group that has no need given how strong they are naturally.

I prefer they not be a combiner. That is part traditionalist ideology and part because I like the idea that they can challenge a Combiner despite the handicap.

Volcanicus is fine to exist but is not the default configuration I'd ever display them in and preferably exists in its own continuity rather than any attempt at retconning G1.

And despite owning all the PotP Dinobots, I've never put them in Volcanicus mode.

….It always felt to me that one of the most cardinal original themes of the Dinobots was that they were fiercely independent, and disregarded most of what other Cybertronians saw as appealing, proper, and necessary, but….

I don’t feel strongly enough about it to say I outright dislike the idea.

It does feel a little forced, imo, though. And contradictory to how the Dinobots tend to be written.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I fucking love it, even if I don't think it suits the Dinobots of most continuities. There's no denying the Dinobots, visually speaking, make for the best and most appealing combiner due to their shared color palette, design and very strong theme (ignoring, for a moment, that a pterodactly is not a dinosaurs). Maybe im biased because I didn't grow up with the G1 Dinobots. Maybe I'm biased because I like combiners. Maybe I'm biased because it has some big Mighty Morphin vibes.

I don't expect it to ever be the main attraction for the Dinobots nor that it should ever become an expected feature like, say, the Scramble City-era combiner teams but I'm totally down for it when the writers or toy designers feel like doing it, especially now that we have a default name and design for the Dinobot combiner.

    The Dinobots shouldn't combine, period.

Frankly I think there are too many combiners as is, I even felt that way as a kid, I recall feeling like most new Transformers were combiner and it felt a bit much.
