I know this should be “which incarnation of starscream do you like “thread or whatever but I wanted to make a thread specifically only about prime starscream, but anyways prime starscream is one of my favorite transformers characters and one of my favorite characters ever

Honestly, I think every version of Starscream has been good and this one is no exception. It keeps the essence of the character quite nicely and really was one of the more fun characters in the show.

I mean, I still feel Knock Out was the best Decepticon character, but Starscream and Shockwave were close seconds. I mean, they still didn't make TFP a good show, but at least they were fun.

I found him to be amusing, but too pathetic to be an actual threat most of the time. It felt like the writers weren't really sure what they wanted to do with him.

Steve Blum was perfectly cast as Starscream, so I'll vote yes purely because of that.

It really does. He starts out seemingly loyal, then reveals his ambitious nature... only to be beaten into submission by Megatron and seemingly humbled... only to then have this arc where he decides to strike out on his own... only to fail miserably and go crawling back to Megatron where he remains a pathetic boot-licker for the rest of the series.

He flip-flopped so much it's hard to even nail down what his character was, and ultimately he amounted to nothing. The fact that he had almost literally been reduced to a clown by the end of the series was really disappointing. He had so much potential and it just went nowhere.

I kind of wish he had been cast as Starscream in TFA, since I felt Tom Kenny tried too hard to sound like the original G1 Starscream and it didn't sound all that natural, whereas Steve went with a more jittery Charlie Adler-esque approach.

I do think Steve could do a G1-esque take pretty well, too... especially if you hear his Dark Scream.

This is the only series were Starscream overthrows Megatron once, and not again. Nice change of pace.

I was totally fine with starscream being pathetic it’s part his character and I think they captured his character perfectly him being pathetic and being treacherous

Fun fact: Jeffery combs( the voice of ratchet) was considered for starscream

I can't see that working well. I feel his voice is more fitting for Shockwave (especially if you hear his Brainiac) or Nightbeat.

But he wasn't treacherous and pathetic, he was treacherous or pathetic, never reaching a balance between the two that defines Starscream as a character. The fact that he just... gave up his ambitions and became a lapdog was so underwhelming and made his whole character feel pointless.

He's my personal favorite version of Starscream, not having read IDW.
Megatron not frying him was believable, as well as Megatron finally breaking him.
While he may not be my favorite looking Starscream, his was truely a physical representation of his personality. Cowardly, yet dangerous.

Sure he wasn’t much of a threat but he was pretty consistently hilarious occasionally elevating the show beyond its limitations and if he is to be a joke at least he was a funny one.

He's pretty fun and interesting, but he keeps getting cut off when he's on to something good: he kills his clones, he loses the Apex armor, etc.

I don't really know if his failing to follow through is in character for him or is bad writing.

I'm not voting because I've got mixed opinions on him. In Darkness Rising, he was much better - still a rat, but one that was a threat when backed into a corner. Look at the scene where he took Fowler hostage. Arcee's got a gun on him and warns him with "I wouldn't." Later TFP Starscream might have quailed. Darkness Rising Starscream just says, "Oh, but I might." He's more vicious earlier on, but later, he's basically a clown that exists for Megatron to pummel and humiliate.

Him learning that Megatrom gets thimgs done is in character. He has tried numerous times to usurp, with all of them falling, and then, in one day, Megatron is able to "kill off" the last of the Autobots. If he wants to have power, he can only get it through under Megatron.

To put it bluntly, he's my Jake Skywalker.

Absolutely loved him at first, going so far as to consider him the Perfect Starscream. Starts off taking command of the Decepticons, leaves because they are all toxic assholes (Megs and Soundwave in particular), goes on his own, uneasy """""alliance""""" with bots like Ratchet and Breakdown.... hey maybe Starscream will earn that leadership position he always wanted. And Airachnid is totally a foil for him, the Azula to his Zuko, relying on getting handed everything on a silver platter instead of having to work for it.

Oh. No, he's... please no, not this, this can't... noooooooooooooooo

I prefer Animated Starscream. Prime Starscream looks like a TWIG wearing HEELS.
Also Animated Starscream's VA, Tom Kenny was FTW.
