Hey guys! im looking for reference pics of the G1 IGA Bluestreak from Mexico. I got a loose figure for a friend in the UK and we just want to be sure its the real deal

I know of two samples online,
    Jeroen
    TFArchive - Transformers Toys

    And this other
    Grey Bluestreak

Anyone else have a sample that could provide extra pics? The main issue we have is the paint color of the diecast, dull or shiny? Jeroen is very worn out to really make out the details...

Oh God, why did Wayback archive *that* version of my page, and not the later one with the better pics? I've already supplied your UK friend with the pics, but if you want them as well I can email them to you.

Yep that is so clearly flat and dull grey, the doors have that blemish in the moulding along the bottom in the middle, I remember so clearly thinking how much the IGA Streak looked like a test shot without a hint of sparkles in the diecast like the Hasbro Bluestreak. That is what had got me so torn on the one that Napjr had found.

I've been examining them again and looking at this pic here maybe they are not as different to yours as I first believed, it could be the stickers that are interfering with my comparison...

And yet in the following picture the diecast and grey plastic sections look so much more sparkly and Hasbro than your Iga one, Morg:

I know this one has a typical Iga Bluestreak unpainted face, but I agree with you that the fact that the front bumper comes off so easily could imply that somewhere in the past the toy has been taken to pieces and Hasbro Bluestreak sections have been added to it.

I also noticed that the fists have a "2" moulded into them, do you recall if your old one had this? I could ask Jeroen about his...

Also, I just dug up a larger picture of Jeroen's Mex Bluestreak, pay attention to the rear windows:

They look remarkably similar in moulding and paint apps to Napjr's one:

They both seem to have that sort of missing rectangular bit, like they are chipped, on the rear windows, where Smokescreen's spoilers would be.

Just heard back from Jeroen, his Mexican Bluestreak does NOT have "2" moulded into its hands like this one does. I wonder if the reason the front bumper comes off is because at some point in the toy's past someone has replaced the arms on this toy with Hasbro Bluestreak arms, explaining the bumper removal, the number "2" on the fists and the sparkly colour of the plastic on the wheelarches.

With already so many pics up it feels a bit unnessary to also add pics, but since I already took the effort to take them, why not.

(I've also added a back-to-back pics with e-hobby anime Streak)

I disagree, the more pics the better. The one Napjr has found is either a variant or a parts-swap (I think parts swap) so the more info we have it allows for better comparisons. It's only through this sort of everyone-post-yours thing that we realised that there are 3 different versions of Mexican Prowl back in 2003. I think everyone presumes if they have a variant of a toy that it's the same as all the other variants of that type, but there are often variants within variants.

I am also incredibly pleased you posted your photos, because it just reminds me that a Mexican Bluestreak should be *immediately* recognisable and identifiable by its dull grey paint scheme across the plastic and diecast, just as yours, Morgs and Jeroen's are. It gives me ever more reason to doubt the one that I am buying because photographs taken with flash, without flash, on iPhone or with digicam have not convinced me of its colour.

interesting, if i had seen a Mexican Bluestreak in the wild before seeing and reading this thread I might have thought it a vintage KO of some sort.

    Great pics everybody!

The seller is extremely funny, doesnt he Maz? He its the "best authority" on IGA across all the world! Even though all the info is personal and not shared with anybody... even fellow mexicans!

Im gonna borrow my better cam from the office and take more pics later today, with comparisons with other TFs i have at hand (from recent lines, my G1s are stored away)

I think im gonna clean a little the diecast pieces with just water and a q tip to remove any kind of residue or oils that might be making the pieces shine

I'll actually defend the guy here because he did contact me with a load of information about the IGA minibots and why particular ones are rare. His information may or may not be right, but he did share in that case. I've just bought some things from him so I'm hoping he's good to his word...although it does strike me as odd that he sells me a bunch of minis but doesn't mention the Windcharger he had.

The Windcharger was from a different seller :)

He's just told me that anyone who thinks there are variants of Mexican Prowl is just false, but quite frankly I have seen these variants with my own eyes so I do doubt his information.

    Yeah just a funny loon

Anyway, i dont have any reason to doubt him, handling the Bluestreak i cant find anything to believe its fake or with mixed pieces (the screws are in perfect shape even!), heck even smells old!

I believe it might be another variant or a running change between releases. The bumper is in perfect state, i dont see any kind of crack or flash if it was removed from any other figure (remember these were melted at the peg once inserted on the hood)

Paint aplication on the hood seems to be factory made, consistent and no evidence of repainting. Inside the hood (and the feet) the paint is the same shade but duller

This time i tried another camera, with better lighting. Took a pic with Alternators Camshaft to compare the grey colors (the only semi recent figure i have at hand with enough gray)

Thanks so much for the extra pictures Nap, the more I see of it the more I am inclined to accept that it could very well be a later variant of the Mexican Bluestreak that was painted and manufactured using better quality material to closer resemble a Hasbro Bluestreak. On the other hand, at this precise moment I don't think I can spend what the seller was asking on that risk and on a variant that isn't precisely what i was after. Let's see how he responds to our further requests.

Yeah I think it may be a running change the more I see of it. The seller says there are 3 versions of Bluestreak and I don't see why not as there are 3 or 4 Prowls and 4 Smokescreens.

Just to update, Morg received the Bluestreak and it does appear that there is a running change to the Mexican release of this toy where the colour in parts is closer to the Hasbro version but not quite as flat grey as the first Mexican Iga Bluestreak.

Hopefully Morg can share a few pics :thumb
