Do you consider War Planets in the same Universe as Transformers?

I remember back in the hay day of Mainframe when they were producing some amazing stuff. War Planets was actually a really cool show and was intended to get much more intense and complicated into the second season when it was unfortunately canned. After the show was over, one of the producers acknowledged that according to their interpretation of the story, the Jungle Planet was actually the same planet Botanica had landed on in Beast Machines.

Now that would kind of (in their opinion) make the War Planets a spin off from the Beast Wars/Machines Transformers continuity. I guess I never really thought about it, but I'm curious how many Transformers fans would consider the two series linked?

I don't mind the idea. It actually would be king of cool I think. The Beast Planet would an interesting match up against Cybertron. It almost resembles Unicron in the "planet eating" aspect.

I never saw that show but i wouldn't' object to saying it couldn't be.

They did share some of the same voice actors as Beast Wars/Machines which is cool.

No they are not in the same universe, it was just a recycled backdrop used as a nod or simply to save time rendering a new "set" just to use for a few seconds.

The Beast Planet from War Planets vs Unicron vs the Death Star vs. Ego the Living Planet would have been an awesome sight to see!

To be fair, Transformers shares it's universe with GI Joe, Jem and The Inhumanoids. So War Planets shouldn't be too much out of place in that universe.

I do remember that show. I could see it fitting nicely into the TF universe... maybe Beast Planet is Unicorn's love child.

Great show. Years ago, I remember stateside they never showed Season 2, but I found both seasons on DVD. I know they're long out of print though.... Also loved Roughnecks Starship Troopers Chronicles too... another series cut way too short IMHO...

I'm fairly certain the producers of the show are the ones that claimed that the planet was the same in both shows. It wasn't a fan rumor, although I'd have to go google that somewhere I bet.

I'd say Hasbro definitely wouldn't be on board with that, since War Planets was from a different toy company.

    (unless Hasbro owns Trendmasters nowadays)

Nope, you're right. Jakks owns Trendmasters now I believe, since about 2000-2002.

Some facts and citations would be helpful in proving this.

Dude, this information was put out 16 years ago. I won't/can't defend it, just a conversation I remember having. Were you watching the shows then? I seem to recall it wasn't scandalous and basically shrugged off as the writer's own concept comments.

I like this idea Partially because Shadow Raiders is a cool show.

And it's a big universe out there so I don't see why not.

I loved War Planets! And personally, I wouldn't mind if they were in the same universe. It's a big universe after all.

Battle Beasts! Thank you! I couldn't remember the name of them for months!

To be honest, I always thought the Beast Planet was Unicron, and that all of this simply happened before or otherwise away from the Transformers universe. Either that or that the beast & Unicron were connected in some way, perhaps even with it being scanned by Unicron or created in his image, etc. Coincidences don't exist, ha!

only if you also think voltron is in the same universe.

it makes about as much sense.
