Do you buy Prime show characters that are not main line?

So considering I am full force Prime collecting, I am wondering, how do you guys fill in your prime line.

For instance, I was looking at Nemesis Prime. I like him, and he fits in as he was a character on the show.

Then you have Breakdown and Silas Breakdown. What do you do in this case. I mean, they were both technically characters on the show.

    But here is the problem:
(Spoilers ahead, but by this point you should know this)
    - Silas, Breakdown and Nemesis Prime can be on the same shelf, since they all existed on the show in that fashion.
    - If you introduce Silas Breakdown, then technically Breakdown is non existant, and there is noone to control nemisis prime. So it won't look right on the shelf together if your trying to represent the shelf.

I know this whole thing is kinda dumb. But I am just deciding if I want to spend all this money on Nemesis Prime, Silas Breakdown and Breakdown. I mean that is $200 all together just for those 3 guys alone.

That is not even going into the rest of the price for Orion Pax.

I just bought AM Breakdown. Want to display him on the shelf with the rest of the Decepticons. Not getting Silas-Breakdown or Nemisis Prime. I didn't get Hotshot, Rumble, Dead End, or Thundertron either. I did get Ultra Magnus and AM Ironhide though. I only got Kup because I wanted his cannons for Ironhide.

Man, I really can't relate. I like displaying multiple incarnations of characters with themselves. To me that's a plus, not a minus.

What is the point in the Orion Pax figure? In the show wasn't he simply good old Optimus with a con emblem? Save yourself the money, get some con emblem stickers and put one on him. I would definitely recommend Breakdown though. He's a great figure, had much more of a presence in the show than Silas Breakdown did, and I'm just a Breakdown fan anyway. If you have Thundertron you could put Silas Breakdown with him as kind of a nuetral faction. Silas was more furthering his own agenda then picking a side anyway.

Considering there's hardly any non show prime characters that got toys, yeah why not buy them?

The line is pretty small if you don't count all the repaints and re-releases of the same characters over and over again.

Dead End is a great example of an awesome non-show toy that must be owned.

I can't really justify getting single appearance characters unless they're cheap, especially not expensive Takara-exclusive ones, and especially not single appearance characters who are remoulds of existing ones. Breakdown himself is a great figure which I'd recommend, but if you have him you don't need CyLas any more than you need Nemesis or Pax if you already have an Optimus.

I haven't watched a single episode of the show yet somehow I ended up with a bunch of Prime figures. If I tried to be a completionist, I could feel forced to buy a figure I'm not enthusiastic about. If I limited myself to just characters from the show, then I could be missing out on some really fun toys. For me the best guideline to follow is I should just buy the figures I think look cool.

I agree with this. If Nemesis Prime and Silas Breakdown got Hasbro releases, they would probably find their way into my colletion. Takara stuff is too expensive to get repaints.

I have to agree with this. It's poisonous thinking to let a television show dictate your collection.

First and foremost I buy what I think is cool. AM Ironhide for example I bought solely because I love that design for Ironhide.

As for delema's such as Nemesis Prime, Orion Pax, Breakdown, and Silas. Nemesis Prime was a remote controlled repaint of Optimus. I don't really need that. Plus I have unfavorable opinions of that mold. Same mold problem for Pax, and Pax was only around for 3 episodes. I can pass. Breakdown I bought ASAP because Knock Out was naked without his partner. That mold is great and his character was important. Silas is a pass because while I like the mold, that episode was so disappointing I'd prefer to remember Silas as he was.

I've passed on Dead End and Rumble because both of those figures are ugly in my eyes. Kup I'm not terribly interested in because the mold is Ironhide; though I do want those guns... I haven't tracked down a Dreadwing because I'm just not enthused with the show at the moment so a desire for new Prime toys is low. Plus I have a clamp on my wallet to keep it closed.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Airachnid. I completely forgot about her. Yeah I passed so hard on that I don't even think of her. Crappy ass figure does not make me open my wallet.

I just buy them as I like them, whether they are on the show or not. When it comes to the Takara only repaints, again I buy them if I like them like Ironhide and Smokescreen. Now when it comes to the Takara only molds like Unicron and Breakdown, just one version is good enough for me. Only exception Im making is the upcoming Jet Vehicon General.

I usually don't buy characters that aren't in the show, but I'm thinking of picking up Ultra Magnus and Thundertron.. people have really mdae them more appealing than they first looked. That being said, I'm more for screen accuracy than I am for what you're going, so I'll buy numerous copies of a mold (I own the FE Bulk in Takara and Hasbro..and 2 Hasbro voyager primes, one for the Dr. Wu face)...but I wouldn't get Nemesis Prime because he doesn't look like nemesis in the show

Have FE Prime, so getting Nemesis to have one of each mold and I just explain it in my head as MECH being slightly off with their design :drunk

I debated whether or not to get CyLAS but in the end just decided to go for it.

Orion Pax I just skipped on, even though he showed up more than CyLAS and Nemesis Prime, the urge to get him never occurred to me.

My self imposed rule with Prime is only get show characters, but I'm amending that to be fiction and getting Ultra Magnus because he's in the Rage of the Dinobots comic
