I'd actually go so far as to say I consider humans a vital element of a Transformers story.

Without humans, the TFs lose half of what makes them special -- without humans to contrast against, TFs are no longer giant, they're no longer alien, and they're no longer in disguise.

I love Beast Wars and acknowledge that it was superb even without humans in the mix, but nevertheless I'd consider BW exceptional in that regard.

 

Unless(which is what we’re hoping), they change that and shake up the formula. Imagine if transformers could seriously effect the mech genre.

 

Yes, but there's a difference between showing contrast and centering a TFs cartoon around them (especially if they're kids).

Further, unless you're telling me that you can't be a robot in disguise on a planet other than earth, then they're always going to be giant alien robots regardless of location. And they definetly don't lose what makes them special by not being around humans. That's a copout and lazy writing because you should be able to write what's special about TFs without looking at that prism through human eyes.

I joke about this with friends every time a new TFs cartoon series starts up and they announce the cast but Optimus just won't be happy until one of the kids dies brutally during battle. Like picture the opening to Transformers Prime but instead of Cliffjumper, Miko takes a Fusion Cannon blast point blank from Megatron, Ironhide-style. "Such heroic nonsense." Boom! I'm sure Optimus would try harder to keep the little buggers away from the Ark then, wouldn't he?  

 

It's mainly exceptional in that it's the only TF show without humans (for the most part) we ever had. So there's not really anything to compare it to.

 

To be honest part of what makes Beast Wars work was that they weren’t giant war machines. They weren’t humans, but they were pretty close to pretenders.

 

depends if adapt a comic yes if not no they give good animation and batles but story ....
