I have not seen any interviews or read any substantial articles detailing who the people behind FansProject, MakeToys, PerfectEffect, etc... are. I would really like to know more about them. I have ready some interviews with TFC, but has anyone come across more info or know where to find it? I always like to hear from creators kind of like director's commentary.
I would love to read articles about the designers. As a major in industrial/product design, I always like reading about other designers.
My own guess is that there are maybe one or two guys that work for Takara, but don't want their name(s) to get out. They do freelance designs for 3rd Parties of the things that they want to make, but don't meet Takara's cost projections or aren't for kids or whatever reason. Just my opinion on why everything is secret.
Of the designers? We know quite a few, actually. There are several TFW members here now that, after making several successful/cool Shapeways designs or Radicon customs, have been approached by 3rd Party manufacturers/labels to buy their designs. A few are relatively vocal when it comes to their personal designs... some aren't so direct about involvement. The manufacturers/owners themselves, on the other hand... we know little about. We'll hear mutterings now and then about costs and expensives for producing figures, but never solid numbers or verifiable facts. *shrug*
Well, I don't care one way or the other --- That came out wrong I suppose. I care about the designers that come on here and make a presence. That sounds better. Because honestly, they care about money (like all companies) and we care about the products we receive. The last thing I want to read is news/gossip/the daily lives of these people who are making bank off of us ("E!" Entertainment news for the Transformers scene!). Hope they're well and all that, but that's the extent of my personal concern
I'd honestly love it if Fantstoys OR the MMC guys would want to do an interview. 2 of the best company's out there ( IMO ).
These are people violating copyright and ip laws... Giving them a name/face wouldn't be a good idea. Hard to sue a shadow company, but it's easy to prosecute Ed over at R&D at Hastak. I'm fine knowing nothing about them but their handy work. I don't need to know about their dreams, families, or favorite flavor of Ben N Jerry's, I just need them to keep cranking out kick arse robots in disguise.
