Like, can they only transform in one way? I was thinking they have a normal transformation and maybe a 'speed' transformation when they need to quickly change in battle. Just a silly thing I was wondering
Hot Rod did in the original movie, as do virtually every movie Transformer to some degree, though canonically it doesn't make much sense since all the parts still have to end up in the same spot in robot mode.
There was mechtech in dotm when BB and sideswipe would Transform into car mode then Half transform to have weapons.
Well there's the triple changers like astrotrain & blitzwing who have alternate transformation from robot to either vehicle mode (vice-versa) or even sixshot who has five different ways to transform from one mode to his other modes
Yes, but it depends on the production budget. In Prime, which went stupidly overbudget, every character model had multiple Transformations and they would use them based on mood, angles, and how fast they needed it to be. If I recall correctly, everyone in FOC Multiplayer had two Transformations, one to go from Robot to Alt, then a different to go from Alt to Robot. In Car Robots Gigatron/Devil Gigatron has multiple Transformations depending on what mode he's in to which mode he's going to. In the movie, Hot Rod never changes the same way twice. If I recall correctly, the Seekers transformed a few different ways across the first two seasons of the cartoons. On the flipside, Superlink and Go! don't.
Transformation being such an important part of Transformers, its not really explained much. Thanks for all the answers guys, it was just something that was running around in my head.
