I wanted to ask if third-party figures suffer QC issues because I wanted to buy the planet-x Vulcan but I'm not sure if third-party figures suffer QC issues because I never owned one. So do they suffer QC issues or they don't.

Any man made/inspected product will always have a certain number of products with QC issues. As for PX, they are fairly good for QC so I wouldn't worry too much.

I own two versions of this figure. It should be fine. I’ve purchased all of the Planet X Dinobots. The Swoop has a loose arm I need to tighten up with a bit of polish, and the Paddles is, well, not great, honestly.

Their Grimlock is top notch, however. I do wish he had his blaster, though.

It happens. A small chance, but yes, it could happen to you. In China, this is sarcastically called "winning the lottery/jackpot".

If you are part of a group of collectors there is always one guy out there getting some problem or another with his purchases. Always him. It could be you. /ominous music

I can't think of any 3rd party company that has a reputation for QC issues - you'll get one-off figures here or there but nothing endemic to a brand. If we're talking build quality, anecdotally I find masterpiece-scale 3rd party figures more sturdy in-hand than their Takara counterparts. Watch some videos about the specific figure you're interested in and you'll know what you're getting into.

But the real question is if parts like joints, tabs, and shifting parts wear off more quicker the official Hasbro counterparts

    Lmao.

I can’t tell if this is a serious post/question, or a thinly veiled attempt at a troll post.

    Your question was answered.

When you buy a brand new *anything*, there can be something wrong with it. Anything. From any brand. From any store.

Here we are specifically talking about transforming toys, with many moving and shifting parts. Things can go wrong, yes; there can be QC issues. With 3P *or* official.

The new Masterpiece Hounds have tons of issues. That is very much a official figure.

Sometimes you’ll get a 3P figure, and it may have issues or issue also. It happens.

And no, the joints/plastic/paint on a 3P figure aren’t lesser than a official figure.

    Ebay:
Generally speaking, no, the 3Ps that are around today don't really have more or less issues than official Hasbro or Takara figures. And when they do, the bigger 3Ps like MMC, Fans Toys, and XTB are generally more proactive about replacing parts.

Regarding Vulcan specifically, anything product made in a modern factory has a certain percentage of defects, but inspectors are supposed to weed out the rejects before they get packaged. Sometimes some slip through the cracks, but I'm unaware of any widespread issues with Vulcan, and my own copy has no issues. Just buy one from a reputable dealer and don't worry about it. As long as the dealer is reputable, even if by some chance you get that 1-in-1000 bad copy they'll sort you out and make it right.

I haven’t encountered qc issues for third party. Fanstoys, Toyworld Constructor. No problems.

It means do your research. Check out some the threads on figures here, YouTube reviews, etc...

You really want to make an informed decision.

Absolutely. As long as things will be designed by humans, made in factories staffed by humans, packaged by humans, there will always be QC issues to varying degrees.

If you are that worried you should look for a reliable retailer in your country. I am sure there is a TF community in your country that you can look for specific advice and ask for a toy company or shop that would provide good after-sales service.

In my experience 3p suffers more QC issues than Hasbro but it's worth fixing the 3rd figure rather that buying Hasbro's ugly crap they are producing

Side note, do you consider tiny paint chips/ imperfections qc issues? I want to hear your thoughts about this

I don't give a damn about tiny things like paint chips all that much, but I care about QC issues when it involves loose joints or problems in the transformation, or if the ball joint at the heat feel too tight that I end up breaking (which that happened to me) then I do get skeptical about QC issues.
