I got one about two months ago at the dentist's recommendation, and I'm beginning to wonder. I had to get it because I brush too hard and it was making my gums recede. I certainly am not going back to regular, because I'd prefer to have my teeth stay where they are, but a lot of times I don't feel like my teeth are that clean. I got a waterpik ultrasonic one, but I think its kind of misleading, because while yes, sound is vibrations, all the toothbrush really does is vibrate really quickly. I'm just wondering what people think of these, because apparently they're a lot more prevalent than they used to be.
They absolutely make all the difference in the world. The caveat is you have to get a really good one. http://www.sonicare.com/
Vic got one of the ones with the little rotating brush thingie... used it once when I slept over and forgot my tootbrush. My teeth felt nice and clean all day. *shrug*
I saw a thing on the Today show a few months back and they said they did indeed work better. I use one and like it, although it feels odd recharging my toothbrush.
i smoke, and since i started using one the stains on my teeth have gone. gross i know, but it means they must work.
My fiancee works at a dental office and she sometimes gets these for free and they absolutely work. But like drip said, you have to get a good one.
Approximately 60% of all electric toothbrushes are sold for the purposes of anal stimulation. In some counties it's the only way to sell stimulation devices without violating decency laws.
After my 6 month checkup in August, it was recommended that I consider purchasing an electric toothbrush, so I went to Target and got an el-cheapo OralB model for about $20. I couldn't believe how easy my checkup two weeks ago went. Virtually no scraping, digging, and gouging with the sharp pointy things we all know and love. My dentist also noted the marked improvement in the condition my teeth compared to my last visit.
We need an applaud smilie so I can use it everytime I see a Mitch Hedberg joke. For now, I'll just use:
the tartar jokes are gonna make me hurl, and I remember thinking when I got mine "great, I just bought a vibrator for my mouth"
Hell ya they work... I try to steer most of my patients to the ETB. Makes a huge difference in their home care.
Let's put it this way: I just had a dentist appointment a few weeks ago, my first in over a year. Due to my hectic schedule, I've also not been brushing as often as I should, often missing out a day or two completely. I just made sure to brush more consistently the days leading up to my appointment. I brushed well before I left, flossed, and when I finished my appointment, they gave me a clean bill of oral health, and told me I was "doing a good job" .
