Might have thought about it (especially since it's basically the same price), but I bought that huge 3rd party one a couple of years back on mega clearance. The only way I would get another at this point would be if I was a crazy lottery man with unlimited money and space and I were to get a real G1 one.

Is there any way for Scorponok to hold it by the gun handle? I’m a little worried about that peg snapping off.

Most definitely! But I would like the set to not be an exact copy.

He basically holds it the same way he holds the Fasttrack spear... You have to get it just right. Get the claw to clamp fingers to tighten in the right spot and he'll hold it fine. I would pose him, first, then place the weapons.

My DK-19 & 21 were delivered today from Toy Dojo. Had both ordered at bbts, got tired of waiting. Dojo had both in stock, just over a week delivery time.

Just got mine from tfs express. Definitely looks loads better, even better in hand than from the pics I'd say. Presence is far more impressive. That being said these sets were pretty expensive so I'd expect it to be. For the bonus bits, I didn't use the faceshield and I didn't receive the translucent visor. Some bits seem a bit unnecessary, like the bits on the side of the legs and the ankle fillers, but the gun and shield are great, shoulder cannons a must for me, the scorpion legs as well although tbh I don't think I'll transform it much. I go back and forth about getting the leg upgrade. Right now I think I'll leave it because I think Scorpy should be a bit smaller than Fort Max. I have the same thing going on with Metroplex/Trypticon, and that height difference bothers me more than Fort Max v Scorponok.

you could always mix and match with the leg kit.

for instance how about just installing the lower legs and not the thighs. you could also just do the thighs if you want a subtle height increase.

If your Fort Max has DNA Design's DK-04 set (the ankle upgrade), FM will retain a slight height advantage over the leg upgraded Scorpy, if I'm not mistaken (based on the comparison pics).

Considering purchasing Dk19 solely for the ability to use the gun to add some city-ish height to base mode.

Seems like a small upgrade for the price, but does it look decent in base mode? Not too many photos of that.

I'll grab some pics, later, but it looks okay. Both pieces hold on via 5mm pegs and it doesn't feel the sturdiest, honestly. Visually, it does the job. From some angles, you can clearly tell it's a giant cannon sticking up in the air, from others, it looks like a smokestack or something. It works well enough.

It's all certainly better than the G1 original toy. I looked at that in a catalog the other night and I keep pinching myself that we're actually here, now.

Not at all. The cannons just plug into a 5mm port on the leg panel. The ankle pieces merely elevate the panels.

They're great in robot mode, but they don't do much for this mode, and they're certainly no good in beast mode.

Just canceled my set from bbts. Sadly, all I really wanted was the cannons.

    I think I understand.

In other words, can I still use the gun as buildings if I DON'T install those DNA leg panels?

Yes, exactly. (Sorry for the lack of clarification.) Bottom line, those ankle panels are great in robot mode, but force the legs apart in beast mode, and jack up the ramps in base mode. They're really only good for one mode. Fortunately, they're easy to install and remove between transformations.
