They've never been against upgrade kits though. They've always rather kind of pushed that idea as it was cool since it still meant buying their figure still.
It's the full figures by 3p that was another matter entirely.

 

Wish they would have given him better chest cannons. Channons, for those in the industry.

I hate how all of these are true. If Hasbro hadn't added that stupid evolution gimmick, we could have gotten a figure that is as good as this. But no, we need a slab in all modes.

Sadly, I'd agree with you there. Why would I spend an extra $50 to polish a $50 turd, when I can get something much better for $180? Can't justify spending $180 on a figure? Then I think that spending $50 on an upgrade set is an even worse investment. And, for this upgrade kit, it does not even fix all of the little Primal problems and you still have hollow feet and arms. I'd probably just try and find an original one off of Ebay, because the current figure is a downgrade in pretty much every way.

Hun-Gurr is great, Elita-1 uses her mold better than Starscream, Battletrap is amazing, Tailgate is cute and Landmine and Submaurader are adorable. I hope you'll find them

DK-08 Upgrade Kit

FYI they had OpOp for $65 and Gorira for $180 so unless you found a godsend of a source you'll get a decent OpOp experience for at least half the money.

 

I’m a little more interested now seeing him with the add on kit, but I don’t really need it because I already have Perfect Effect Gorira. I didn’t realize that Op’s smaller body rides on the back of the big one. I don’t know about that but I liked how they were able to blend in the gorilla monkey on the surf board from his Trans Metal body.

 

True, and I'm pretty sure he'll get a repaint for a con down the line and/or a rerelease for some BW anniversary.

 

Maybe if you slap another three or four kits on this figure it will end up not looking like crap.

 

My ideal upgrade would be some sort of backpack that could just replace the Primal inner mode and be something that one could just leave there, as I am not at all a fan of the \"slab\" that Primal transforms into.

 

There was a custom posted a few weeks ago that did just that. I've been trying to find the pic since this kit was announced.

Still no luck.

 

TF Source still has OpOP available for pre-order for only 54.99 arriving in Aug, plus the 25 for the DNA upgrade makes it not a bad price overall for a figure that does all I need it to do.

The PE figure is of course looks much better, but I always feel a bit nervous transforming a 180 dollar figure. Im much more relaxed with a 55 dollar toy in case it breaks I wont feel so bad. If I had enough extra to just place it in one mode for display Id go for the PE but this looks like a toy I want to mess with and not just let it sit on the shelf.

The one thing Dna forgot to fix was the chest cannons.  
Those sad hollow barrels hasbro gave us just dont cut it. Im gonna have to make some new ones out of styrene since this upgrade kit doesn't replace them.
