it's actually a good thing, it allows the wheels to act as back filler in wild ape mode.

Okay. Now THIS is something I need. Optimal Optimus seems a bit more complete now

Nice! If I had the figure I'd certainly have to invest in these. I don't really mind the parts forming, firstly they only had what Hasbro gave them to work with and those wheels on his back in robot mode look terrible....so the fact they are removable is a plus ;)

OMG, I love it! I mean, he's kind of a mess with all that stuff on him, but it's a lovable mess. It even obscures/disguises the obvious smaller Primal backpack a little. Which is a plus!

I'd still love to see some 3rd party do fully articulated hands for him and a fully redone smaller Primal with it's own gorilla mode and more convincing spaceship and backpack modes. But I'm happy with this upgrade set for now.

If someone gets this set and feels like they only need one of the rifles, I'll gladly buy the other one. Possibly both swords too if you're indifferent about those.

I’m not usually one for upgrade kits, too much of a toy purist, but this does put a smile on my face. I might check it out, if only I could actually find an Optimal Optimus in stores. Given the line’s uneven rollout in Australia so far, even by PotP standards, I’m not liking my chances. I mean, they just skipped wave 2 all together down here. Not even barely stocked it like in America, but completely skipped it. Thank Primus for the internet! At least it’s reliable, unlike a certain toy company I know.

*sigh* Why does every comment I write these days somehow devolve into a rant about Hasbro’s poor treatment of PotPs? I’m sorry everyone.

We now return to your regularly scheduled does of grown men ogling over children’s toys.

PE will likely make 2 sets, 1 that includes a small primal that has a gorilla mode and probably better hands for OpOp and a second set that is basically what we see here. I'd imagine that both sets will be able to recreate the surfboard mode when combined.

Definitely gonna jump on this. I don't like BW, but I do like that Optimal Optimus and this kit looks great.

Best thing about this set is that the weapons cover the hideous backpack

They hit every weak point with absolute precision
If someone wanted to make an inner gorilla figure to go along with the extra ,but necessary mile.

I don't understand why this is announced so fast, but nobody ever released a simple snap-on fix for POTP Prime's ugly-ass truck cab mode??

Originally I was turned off, but I eventually figured out I was still being sad over what the "evolution" gimmick gave us. Now that I'm over it, this set is right up my alley. I wanted to treat Primal/Optimal as a weird odd-couple, but really didn't want to knock out that pin, even if it would have helped the idea. They're a team, but Primal ought to have a little more dignity than being an oddly huge depolyer.

This set does it for me in all the right ways. The new bits make them both a hair more complete on their own, which overall makes them feel more balanced as a combiner team. And how often do you get a combined mode with his own alts? (can you transform him without taking Primal off?) You have to accept that the ape can't transform on his own, but I can roll with that. He's an ape, he cool beating on things.

Wow, this makes Optimal Op more appealing.

I was on the fence between this and the PE Gorira, but leaning toward this now....
