New face looks extremely bad, and those wings are way too long. New blade is too long to store away too. I’m in it for the cannons, though.

It's not the wings and face for me. It's the hollow spaces on the cannons. For 180 bucks that should not have happened.

There's nothing wrong with Victory Sabers current face so why did they make a new, worse one?

Polarizing face aesthetics aside, I really do feel that this set is meant for fans that absolutely prioritize Victory Saber/the V-Star Jet looking as anime exaggerated as possible; the wings and cannons'll be oddly proportioned and awkward when not the combined modes (I have a feeling that if they're not angled like they are in the pics the V-Lock rifles might just extend past the main cannon on Victory Leo's back) and the blade doesn't have the convenient storage option the stock one does. Great for certain displays admittedly, but I have to say that this set really drives home that Hasbro did a pretty darn good job of balancing part proportions between all the modes.

True, but think of how much money Hasbro saved by doing that. Across the entire run they probably saved enough to almost cover the cost of coffee at the design team’s next meeting.

I would have paid $5 more for Leo Star Victory Saber to not have hollow parts on the underside of the cannons.
I don't really see a need for the other bits in this set -none of them.
The sword is nice, but unnecessary.

    Upper leg extensions when?

(Honestly, doing that and getting it to still transform will take some serious voodoo. But it's the only thing I care about besides hollow part fillers.)

Yes, maybe I would prefer it if the $180 Haslab figure hadn't cheaped out with hollow forward facing cannons. As for the sword, they simply could have made it two blades that snap together that both could have stored into each of legs. The first being the blade that they included, that could be sized for Saber and also a second "extension" one stored in his opposite leg that could be combined together to form Victory Saber's weapon.

Not exactly sure how the actual product fits together, but I think he needed a better neck before he needed a different face.

Telescoping, no. Anything you design to that nature will be too thick for the storage sheaths in his legs.

A two-part, snap-together blade that can store half in either leg, on the other hand, might be doable.

It isn't "needed". No one needs it. It's a preference issue and doesn't fix any issue the figure had beforehand.

    Blade: Yes

    Cannons: Yes

    Wings: Meh

    Face: No

neospark1's comment is being misunderstood. A $180 figure shouldn't have the various QC and design issues it has, including the major hollow plastic eyesore of the cannons and a short blade.

Well I'm happy they've replaced the cannons. I'm not sold on the new face but the rest looks ok.

Neither is a production or design "flaw", they were intentionally designed that way and function as intended. Nothing this add-on kit provides corrects any previously reported QC problems- not the wings, not the face, not the sword and not the cannons. A stylistic preference for something else isn't a QC issue.

The hollow plastic issues of the cannons are pretty bad in-hand and shouldn't have happened in the first place. It's Hasbro cheapening out on an expensive product. This kit will fix the cannon hollow plastic issue.

This kit will also correct the short blade issue.

I didn't care for the new face plate.

    The wings I'm meh about.

Looking like it\'s another case of either no upgrade kit does all the things I\'d like, or they do things I don\'t really care about.  Mostly I just want gap fillers for the cannon, longer blade for the sword, and maybe a more in porportion sword for just Saber.

I know I\'ve really been getting on DNA\'s case for going downhill over the last year, but for me, this may be the single most uninteresting kit they\'ve produced for a figure I have and like. For the first time, not only do the upgrade kit mods not interest me, but most of it looks better without them! The larger wings with those goofy massive hinges, the guns feeling too long to me, and the darker face. All worse. But hey, to each their own.

Honestly, I kinda regret not keeping ol\' Saber here. I really like the look with the kit on him but I still have zero attachment to the series or the character.

That he resembles a Gundam is more my jam. The hollow waffle-cannons never should have made it through a HasLab project in the first place, but at least they\'re better here.  The new wingspan here looks good and I love the longer blade.
