I know it was a long shot but I really hoped that they would include a new arm to simulate the dragon headed fusion cannon that the prefect effect one has, I liked the option to have two fists, oh well.

 

That would be extremely difficult since it would require an entire new dragon head and neck which would have inflated the price a lot.

 

The face upgrade is needed, but this still looks off. I think his eyes are too big. The upgrade actually makes him look too cutesy.

 

Oh I know it would be a lot of work, just thought that DNA would be the ones to make it if anyone chose to, wasn't expecting it by any means.

 

The standard head sucks, replacing it is absolutely understandable. Top priority with this figure.

The new dragon chest is probably the second best addition because it is modified to allow it to sit closer to the body in robot mode. I know that's been a point of frustration for some owners. The standard version is awkward, it just sort of...dangles.

Beyond those two it gets less impactful. Next up would be the hand. Articulated hand is a pretty standard type of upgrade, it's certainly a nice-to-have but not a make-or-break feature. Not necessary, but generally expected in these types of kits to have something like that.

Beyond those it stops addressing problems and the remaining items are more like bonuses.
The longer tail, the different color helmet, the additional judge accessory, they're not necessary but I aint complaining.

That would be cool. I'd sooner take that over the judge wig.
Although I suppose a Covenant of Primus should be pretty easy to 3D print, being primarily just a rectangle. I could make one pretty easily, thanks for the idea.

Although not exactly sure how to get him to hold it. Even the upgrade hand just seems to have one articulated finger. Er...something to think about.

 

Ehh... the new dragon chest seems pointless, and he really needs an opening Covenant of Primus.
The head options and hand are nice though. I'd grab them if there was an option for JUST those parts.

 

DNA seems to have a minimum price point they're willing to sell their kits for these days, so the choice is either an inflated parts count, like this, or things you do want but bundled with stuff for other figures you might not have, like Kingdom Megs + Primal + Cheetor.

 

The tail extension seems pointless to me, but who knows.

I called it that they'd give us the wig if they did an upgrade kit for this guy. Tho I personally don't care for the judge wig, but I suppose its nice for those who want to recreate that specific scene even tho there's no Quickstrike, Rampage, or Dinobot II.

Articulated hand is nice, not much to say.

The new dragon chest is cool ig, I guess it could slim him down a little. Seems slightly pointless tbh.

Finally the main event, the new face. It's an improvement over the original, but its still off. Tho the non transparent helmet piece is a plus.

Its probably been mentioned already but this replacement face looks so much more on the money imo:

Only concern is that it seems rather pricey for just a new face, so I'm hoping it comes out perfectly at that price. At the same time I don't mind getting multiple kits as I do really like this figure enough to do that.

Also like I'm sure others have mentioned, no Covenant of Primus?

 

Honestly, I feel the main problem with the head is not the face but the size. Its too small for such a beefy body. This face looks better than the one with DNA's kit (link for anyone wanting it: 闲鱼宝贝详情) but the head is still small imo.

 

The new faces are using the same eyes as the original. Looking at the show model, his eyes are too tall and triangular and are missing the eyelids. Simply taking same dark paint to the bottom/top of the eyes should make them look correct.

 

The powdered wig is cool, but no gavel?

 

Was kinda hoping someone did a metal cape cage & helmet since he looks more like the scrawnier Beast Machines Megatron to me.

Could prob make one from old Bionicle & Constructbots wing parts.

This face looks much better. I also agree that the head is too small relative to the rest of his body.

 

I will have both. PE Doragon is a massive shelf piece that is really just excellent in either mode, but I don't really want to do more than put him in a triumphant pose of the month.

With leader dragonmegs, I don't have to worry about scraping chrome paint or busting a ratchet. So yes...

The only thing it seems to improve is that it locks on the back in robot mode.

You can really only see the "improvement" in the one picture and that's from an angle that no one will ever display this figure.
This looks "better", I guess.

Yes, the back tabbing is quite annoying and throws off the profile. I'm aware of people modding or even cutting off the warped tab altogether.

I've even tried heat treating it to fit...and just won't go. It's that bad.

I have to agree with Alph on this one. Perfect faces? No. Better? Yes.

We know, you made your point. No one's opinions matter, yet we voice them all the time. It's a weakness in us.

Stoic for me. Stock, plus any other faces just don't work for me.

And that's your right. Some people prefer the originals of a lot of things and there's nothing wrong with that. That said, voicing such an opinion in this thread seems rather pointless and bait-like, really.

Don't do that. No one's better than anyone else, don't act like it.

Bloated? This seems downright reasonable for them. I've seen some bloated sets, and I've seen some that were utterly overpriced for what you get (the Dino/Shatter set was horrendously overpriced for what you got. Ugh.)

I think this is a reasonable set from DNA. I laughed at their Victory Saber set, this one makes me happy.

 

The faces are the obvious main event but articulated hands are always welcomed and more tail pieces just means more posing possibilities yes please. And that chest is f-ing beautiful, unnecessary yes but f-ing beautiful. And look I\'m a sucker for little one scene accessories, sue me. 

 

That will come with Cryotek in whatever subline Hasbro releases him in.
