I really wish that they would've made a silver set.
They did. It's the middle one pictured:
On the first page?
If so, none of the pictures are showing up for me. Regardless, when I was looking at orders for this set a year or so ago, I never saw anything for a silver one, and assumed one was never made.
It would probably be impossible to find one for a fair price at this point.
The chrome one is out there. This was posted by someone on Seibertron:
Price I couldn't say. The gray kit I just got from Taobao was about $85 until all the shipping was paid, which was way less than what I was willing to pay so I lucked out. The chrome one will most likely be harder to track down.
Ah, I'm not looking for one for the chromed Megatron, I'm looking for one for the silver painted one that has the repainted right arm.
Oh that one. Yeah, they didn't do one for that one.
That one has a terrific colors though. It's a shame the regular version didn't get that metallic treatment. Model Masters acrylic silver paint should match that perfectly, though.
The hands are the only pieces I need
Yeah, my main hope now is that some 3rd party group decides to make TF Prime characters and makes a bigger and better Megatron some day.
They're yours if you want them. They just won't match his feet (these hands are a dark steel gray and the us voyager hands/feet have that bronze tone to them). PM an address and I'll put them in the mail this week.
My dream come true would be TFP Masterpiece, but then my Voyager scale collection would need replaced.
I finally was able to find the version I've looked for for what seems like ages. The satisfaction of checking this off of my wish list has been a long time coming, and it felt great.
I primarily wanted it for the head, sword and cannon, and all of those are exceptionally done. There's no better head alternative, but there's a cannon & sword set on Shapeways that is a very close second.
The back pieces are a huge improvement to the stock ones, which I'd removed from mine a long time ago. Now his back folds up almost as nice as his First Edition's does.
He did have floppy hands right out of the box, only half of his toe pieces fit decently, and I had a big problem with the arm filler piece that replaces the slide out sword. Thankfully none of these were huge issues and were fixable with a little effort.
The biggest surprise was TaobaoRing, though. They were great in making sure I wanted to buy just toy parts, making sure they were the right parts, and then sending it swiftly and well-packaged.
Finally received a set this morning. Was this set retooled and reissued recently? I'm seeing the US version more readily available on ebay and I remember people complaining about floppy wrists, but my set had screws in each hand that I tightened for a more secure fit.
That's definitely different than the original. What's the box look like?
Huh. That's the og box design. Is there a gray dot on the side of it? That's how they kept the 3 versions straight - different colored dots on the box spine.
Maybe they did reissue it because of the remaining demand for the US one. I didn't think DMY was still around though.
Oh well, for $30 I picked up a spare. Thanks for the tip.
No problem. As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a grey dot on any side of the box to indicate which version it was meant for. Guess I got lucky that the listing for the US version was actually for the Hasbro version and not a misleading title.
I recently tried the Silver Set (For the AM-33 Megs!) and nothing worked properly. The back panels wouldn't stick and the foot panel things kept popping out. After about an hour of fiddling I just said "Fuck it!" and glued some shit and now I've got a Megs who'll be a pretty good placeholder until a better BucketHead comes out.
Where did you get yours? I would like a set with the hands with screws, so maybe if I order from the same place....
Search ebay for dmy megatron. It's any of the ones that are ~$40.
