using the parts from shapeways for megatron's head and making some DRASTIC changes to them, and to the build of this figure, he is now more articulated and the left arm is more proportionate with 5 fingers accurate to the film. dry brushing detailing on selective areas.
thanks! while i worked on it i realized that there is ALOT of work to be done to make it trully accurate. Thats what ver. 2.0 is for =) Thank you! im glad that he is getting so much positive feedback. i did alot of drybrushing into the shading to create something different. no. the armor for the head is impossible to install without the removal of the upper torso's extra armor. The funny thing is that by removing that armor, the figure became closer to the CGI from what i gathered in the screenshots of the film. of course there is always room for an extra mile for the next project.
Wow, love what you did with him, this is just my opinion, but the shapeways parts are not worth it, seem a bit big, and a good bit overpriced
agreed. but the seller explained to me why that is. Yes, when i fitted them, they where incredibly big and i had to do some MAJOR modification and cutting all on the top of the body to make it work. But the fact remains that the key to the accurate megatron head, is in these parts. I guess it all depends on how far you are willing to go to have the ROTF Megatron be justified as a descent or even a great figure. The same reason i felt it necessary to upgrade his left arm. While this was a commission, i felt it as an opportunity to try some things out and see how far i can go. All in all i think it was worth the effort and 30ish for an accurate head to me is totally worth it since i personally am a big fan of Megatron.
