Zimmer and Lebo being back is still the best thing about this movie.
Remember that Indian rhino that appeared in the Circle of Life shots? It’s been replaced with a proper African rhino. My guess has been that it was just reusing completed assets from Jungle Book for the promos.

Cast portraits with the exception of James Earl Jones. Portraits confirm that Kamari/Key/Banzai is the hyena with a missing chunk of his ear, and that Eric Andre/Azizi/Ed is the hyena with a bald head and lines in his scalp.
EDIT: Also, new featurette. We get some Hakuna Matata, a little footage here and there of the cast recording their lines, new shots.
EDIT 2: @Incepticon here’s one where we hear John Oliver as Zazu for the first time:
EDIT 3: And here’s another one showing more of the Battle of Pride Rock.

I can't get over how emotionless they look now that we've seen how they act. And Scar for sure is getting Favreau's Sheer Khan treatment. Just a one dimensional villain. I hope i'm wrong.
Good quality version of the earlier Spot I posted.
Really fun spot.
Runtime confirmed for 1 hour 58 minutes, which is 29 minutes longer than the original.
The spots that were posted after your comment show a lot more emotion, especially Nala and Scar.
Most of the footage we are seeing probably won't be finished, i'm sure we will see a lot more emotion in the film. If they did it with The Jungle Book, we will see it here.
New glimpses of the Be Prepared scene.
They really don't. They have no expression on their faces, and the voice performances seem phoned in and bland.
I totally get the complaint, but it's sort of unavoidable is they're going for photorealism. Otherwise they end up with creepy anthropomorphic human-ish faces, like the Mowgli movie. Animals are very limited in-terms of facial expressions.
This is probably why the original film (and most movies about talking animals) used exaggerated animation. Normally I'd be skeptical, but I thought Jon Favreau did a great job on Jungle Book, so I think he can pull this off. I was fully prepared to hate Jungle Book based on the teaser, but the final movie won me over.
I’ll admit Mufasa in particular looks like his face is set permanently as “wise old leader” mode except when he’s laughing and playing with Simba. Scar has shown he can make some wicked grins and angry scowls, I don’t feel like I’ve seen quite enough to pass enough judgement on adult Simba and Nala. Timon, Pumbaa, and Zazu look fine. Rafiki should be okay since it’s easier to animate more human expressions on a fellow primate than a snake or a hyena since we share facial structures and all.
Don’t give a shit, Disney is making a killing off of me alone.
I'm guess one extra scene is finally adding the deleted scene where Scar tries to make Nala his queen.
I certainly hope not.
The novelization actually adds a subplot where Scar tries to make Sarabi his queen repeatedly during his reign, apparently jealous she chose Mufasa years ago. While novelizations are based on old scripts and that could mean this was cut, it was in there quite a bit meaning it’s less likely to have been cut. It does lead to an understated moment where Sarabi basically declares herself queen and tells the other lionesses and Zazu that they are to respect her as the ruler of the Pride Lands, not Scar. It doesn’t go anywhere but I loved Sarabi giving Scar the middle finger like that.
Donald Glover said the film goes into more of Simba’s growing up and his struggle to deal with his childhood trauma, Favreau said Nala has a bigger part because of Beyoncé’s casting. I’m 99% certain we get a Shadowland-esque sequence in the film going off the novelization and comments from Favreau. In general, the novelization also showed more of Scar’s reign as king and how he failed to keep the balance of the Pride Lands’ ecosystem which destroyed the kingdom - it wasn’t just bad luck from a drought during his reign.
It's hard for a middle finger, because Lions don't have thumbs.
Cast portrait of everyone but James Earl Jones and John Kani was released.
Aaaand James started trending on Twitter and I nearly fucking choked on my drink until I saw it was just about his absence from the portrait. Ugh.
World premiere is taking place. Tonight Beyonce's new solo from the film "Spirit" will debut, Beyonce is also releasing an entire album of Lion King-inspired music from worldwide artists called "The Lion King: The Gift".
For the first "standby" part of the lifestream, they were using Hans's score and naturally he delivers. We got:
* To Die For
* Simba vs Scar and presumably Scar's death
* What seems to be the lioness vs hyena battle because I can hear the Broadway show's "Simba Confronts Scar".
* The hyena chase in the elephant graveyard and what must be Mufasa fending off the hyenas.
I'm so happy
EDIT: this score continues to amaze me I LOVE it
Early reactions from the premiere positive. Consensus is that it’s faithful to the original, the cast is pretty good, even non-actress Beyoncé (with McCrary, Rogen, Eichner, and Ejiofor getting singled out a lot). Hans’s score is wonderful, visuals are astounding and raise the bar. One complaint I keep seeing though is that the lions don’t emote that much (as you all called).
Is it just the lions or all characters?
I only read complaints about the lions, I haven’t seen anything about the non-lion characters.
