I respectfully disagree. What you considered double standards today have occurred how often? A handful of times in the last 20 years? Like honestly, very little.

The double standard I’m talking about was the accepted norm for decades, since the start of the industry. It’s not comparable.

 

We’re I to go with this casting, I would take a more bold and creative direction and place this in a village in Columbia. And maybe give her pure white hair to hide to keep her from being found.

To put a Colombian in old world Germany just seems.. eh.. and reeks of sloppy seconds. Instead of creativity.

So instead of Snow White and the seven dwarfs we are getting Snow White, 1 dwarf but 7 hippies.

Yeah… when seeing this the 1st thing I think of is the Age of Aquarius  

 

“The photos are fake and not from our production," a Disney spokesperson originally alleged to the Daily Beast. "We are currently trying to have the Daily Mail issue a correction.”

As a result, the Daily Mail issued the following correction: "This article has been amended since initial publication to correctly identify the actress portraying Snow White as an extra who stood in for post-production photography. Disney confirm [sic] that stand-ins were used for both Rachel Zegler and Andrew Burnap in these images. We are happy to clarify this point."

Later that day, however, the same spokesperson would walk back the previous statement made to the Daily Beast, saying the photos were indeed from its production but weren't official. The spokesperson claimed there was a misunderstanding and had called for a correction to the names of the actors that were in the photos, some of whom were stand-ins.

So yeah those were stand ins and it is Snow White and the 7 hippies.....

I see Disney has again not learned from it's previous mistakes. Maybe they can head off disaster and turn this into a write off.

It's going to flop, but not because of the mess with the seven whatevers, but because those remakes don't really have any target audience and yet they are expensive to make.

Too different from the original to work by the nostalgia alone.

Not different enough to work as their own things.

Disney should put their obsession with remakes to rest. If they want to keep releasing same stuff again then remasters are an option too.

 

Everyone knows that it's going to flop. Bell and I were just discussing whether the photos were real while others made jokes about it. Then someone channeled their inner Grumpy and complained about civil discourse and jokes.
 

 

Disney is going the activision route by making something incredibly successful and then drive it into the ground where people stop caring.

 

I would strongly campaign for a 4K remaster and subsequent theatrical rerelease of Fantasia. I heard someone say that when they did Fantasia 2000, the audio wasn’t that great on the returning Sorcerer’s Apprentice segment so hopefully they’d adapt the audio for modern theaters as well. When I saw Return of the Jedi in theaters in May I was disappointed by how poor the picture was, they might as well have slapped the 2005 DVD on the big screen.

 

So, is anyone actually interested in this? Because I hate the original and had no plans of actually watching it personally. I just find the discourse around the seven... hippies?... sure hippies... the seven hippies to be amusing at this point. Even if I liked the original film I'd likely give it a pass because 95% of these live-action remakes have been terrible. Some are more tolerable than others, but generally not worth theater money at the very least. Maybe I'll give it a watch when it's free on D+.

So, back to The Seven Hippies. What's the consensus on the image? Real or fake? Looks like Disney said it's fake, then that was redacted, but I can't tell if the redaction got redacted and it's fake but real with real people but fake productions. Or are the actors real but this isn't what they'll look like? Or is the image real but it's not from the actual filming?
